I looked up and hadn't realized that we all had come to a stop.

"Carl," I whispered.

He looked back at me.

"Take her," I whispered again.

I handed Judith to him and pulled out my knife. We were underneath an overpass. There were voices that were coming from above us. I tried my hardest to hear what they were saying but I wasn't close enough. Daryl had gone ahead so I slowly made my way to him.

"Stay on patrol. Let's hurry it up!" a woman from above shouted.

The sound of engines turning and tires squealing indicated that the coast was clear. I reached for Daryl's hand which startled him.

"It's just me," I whispered.

"Don't sneak up on my like that," he whispered harshly.

"Sorry," I said.

He kissed my forehead then stood up and signaled the group to come closer. He waited a few seconds before he moved them along.

"Come on. It's best to stay off the roads. Head through the woods right there,'" he said.

Our people moved into the trees. There was suddenly a walker that appeared and almost touched Carl but he avoided it before it could get him.

"I got it," Tara said.

She held it in place and was right about to put an end to it when Dwight said, "I'll cover you."

With that, she pushed the walker toward him catching him off guard.

"Tara!" Rosita whispered sharply.

"What? It got away. He can handle it," she said nonchalantly.

We watched as Dwight knocked down the walker and stomped on its head while holding onto his injured arm.

"See?" Tara said once it was done.

"Hey, just keep 'em moving," Daryl ordered.

She did as he said.

"What the hell are we gonna do with her?" he asked.

"There's nothing we can do. She's got her mind made up. We're just gonna have to keep an eye on her," I said.

"Yeah. And we will. Did you hear them talking about Dr. Carson and Gabriel?" Rosita said.

"What about them?" I asked.

"They escaped. Probably on their way to Hilltop. Same as us," Daryl said.

"Hopefully better than us," Rosita retorted.

There was some more growling. A walker emerged from the bushes and I went up to drive my knife into its skull.

"Come on," Daryl said taking my hand and leading me into the trees.

We'd passed the group once we had gone deeper into the woods. We were quiet the entire time. Both thinking about all the possible obstacles that would delay us from making it to Hilltop. I looked back and noticed our group was no longer behind us.

"Babe, hold up," I said stopping him.

He looked back and had a look of concern on his face. Rosita made her way over to us.

"Where are they?" he asked.

"They needed rest. They're exhausted. Some of them haven't slept," she said.

Daryl nodded.

"All right. Ten minutes. We can't be stopped at one place for long," he said.

"I have a question. Is there a reason he's still breathing?" Tara asked.
