The sun was beating down on us when we got there. Carol smiled at us once we came into view. Morgan and Tara were seated off to one side of the highway. We parked next to the car they had come in.
"Everything go okay?" Carol asked.
"Yeah. Went off without a hitch. How are we doing on time?" I asked.
Tara had stood up and walked up to us.
"Almost there," she said.
We all looked toward the direction the walkers would be coming through. A few minutes passed as we continued to wait.
"Here we go," Tara said.
Morgan stood up and joined us in waiting to make sure that the herd came our way. Tara began counting down from ten. We all waited in anticipation to see this part of the plan set into motion. She reached 'one' and we were all expecting to see the herd. But we didn't see them.
"Shit," Tara said.
I kept on looking in the direction. They had to come.
"Nah. There," Daryl said.
Sure enough the herd was making its way over.
"Yes," I said.
"Close enough," Tara said.
"Alright. Let's go," Daryl said.
I got on the bike while Morgan, Tara, and Carol jogged away from the car. Once we were about 5 miles out, the first explosion was heard. I looked back to make sure the others were nearby. I was relieved to see they were. We got to the town nearby and stopped at a parking lot. I got off and headed to a walkway that led to one of the buildings. The others arrived a few minutes later.
"I have to go and tighten the wire for when they come," Morgan said.
"I'll come with ya," Daryl said.
"Be careful," I said.
Daryl came up and kissed me then followed Morgan down the block. Carol and Tara joined me and overlooked the town.
"So you and Daryl know which route to take right?" Carol asked.
"Straight down this road," I said pointing down the street right below us.
"Okay. Good," she said.
Daryl and Morgan came into view a few minutes later and headed over to us.
"How close are we?" Carol asked when they were closer.
"Close," Daryl said.
We looked to our left and sure enough, the building that I had seen when Daryl and I had gone to get what Dwight had given, was close by.
"More waiting," I said.
"Yup. It sucks but it's not for nothing," Tara said.
"Yeah. It isn't," I said.
All of a sudden I heard some growling in the distance. I tried to find where it was coming from.
"There," I said.
It was a walker and it was heading toward the direction Morgan and Daryl had come from.
"Shit. Could that thing set it off?" Tara asked.
"I got it," Morgan said.
He quickly made his way down the stairs and followed the walker.
"Dammit," I said.
