The day was winding down and almost everything that needed to get done was completed. I was feeling the hard work weigh down on me. I was sitting on the steps by the house, rubbing the back of my neck.

"You okay?" Rick came up and asked me.

He took a seat next to me. I looked over at him.

"Yeah. Just feeling the soreness of today," I said.

"I told you not to strain yourself," he said.

"I didn't. Wasn't like I lifted anything heavy. Just, I've been moving around all day," I said.

"And that would fall under the definition of straining yourself," he retorted.

"Oh whatever. So you and Michonne were gone for a while after Alexandria. I figured you'd be back once the rest of the group had reached this place," I said.

"I paid a visit to the Scavengers," he said.

"What the hell for?" I asked.

"Their weapons. I didn't get a chance to tell you but I had gotten them to go to the Sanctuary. We got there but when we did, the Saviors fired on us and they fled," he said.

"Cowards. But I didn't see much ammunition," I said.

"Yeah. We weren't able to get them. All the Scavengers were dead," he said.

"What? All of them?" I asked.

"All except for Jadis," he said.

"It was the Saviors wasn't it?" I asked.

"Yeah," he said.

"Assholes. And they took the weapons I'm sure," I said.

"They did," he said.

"And Jadis? What happened with her?" I asked.

"I left her there. I could have brought her along but...I was fed up with her games. If I brought her back, who knows what kind of shit she would have pulled," he replied.

"Well I never trusted her. You were right to leave her behind," I said.

I looked around at some still at work.

"What are you thinking?" he asked.

"How are we gonna fight off another attack? We went through a lot of ammo last night. We may not have the resources to do it again. Jesus found some stuff but it wasn't much," I said.

"We'll figure it out. Try not to stress so much. Matter of fact, you should head up and take a nap. Maggie's up in her room right now. She wanted to make sure she had the energy to accommodate to everyone's needs when they turn in for the night," he said.

"She should be resting as much as she can. She's been working so hard lately," I said.

"I know. She was meant to lead," he said.

"That she was," I said.

"Come on. Get some sleep," he said standing up.

He held his hand to me and I took it.

"Wake me up when Maggie does," I said.

"No promises," he retorted.

"You suck," I said.

"Oh whatever," he said matching the tone I'd used earlier.

I chuckled then went inside the house. I was only gonna rest for a little while. I couldn't slack off. I had to do what I could while I was still able to. I got to our room and laid on the bed. I tossed and turned for a good ten minutes. I couldn't fall asleep. I sat up and took off my boots. Another ten minutes later and it was the same thing. I closed my eyes and tried but it wasn't working. Then the door opened and I looked to see who it was.
