Chapter 6 - What Awaits

Gabriella,” he said with a smile.

It was him again; I was with the shinobi. His pitch black hair rounding his face perfectly, cascading down in waves. And his chocolate brown eyes penetrating into my own, showing feelings and words that needed not be spoken. That killer warm smile he was giving me making my insides explode with sparks, and tingles run all over my body.

How come I was feeling like this? I have never met him before, yet he was capable of making me feel such things. These feelings... so foreign to me, but at the same time they are something that I need. Want. Crave. I can't help but welcome them.

I will find you,” he assured, reaching out and caressing my cheek. An enjoyable warmth spread from where he touched, leaving me in a blissful state. “We will soon run into each other.”

I have no idea what is going on, but whoever this shinobi is, is making me feel relaxed. Being with him gives me a sense of protection. But why? Why am I overwhelmed with all these emotions for him?

I opened my eyes and found myself sleeping on the futon from the place we found to stay at yesterday. Tsubasa noticed I was awake and came over to me.

“Good morning, Gabriella!” he smiled. “Did you have a nice sleep?”

“Uh... yeah.” I answer. “It sure beats sleeping on the roots of a tree.”

I got up from the futon and went to put on a kimono. I never knew how tricky it was to put one on, but, in a way, it was really fun putting it on. I like a bit of a challenge.

My hair, though, is a challenge I would very gladly love to turn down. That is, if I could. But, much to my dismay, I need to brush it; I wouldn't want to go out and have my hair looking like a cave-woman’s. Which it literally does, a night of tossing and turning in my sleep always leaves my hair in a huge mess of knots. How? Wish I knew...

After who-knows-how-long of pulling and tugging on my hair with a comb, I was finally ready. I grabbed all my stuff and headed out with Tsubasa.

I thanked the man for the room, and left. Tsubasa said that we had to keep going, we couldn't just stay in one place. I don't really understand why, but I guess I don't want to stay in one place either. If there is a way for me to get back home, I want to find it, and to do so I believe the best way is for me to go from place to place.

Maybe moving around will help me. I might find clues or things that could be useful. The one who brought me here did say that I needed to find my own way back. That he could move a person through time only once...

Argh! Then why did he bring me here? What 'destiny'? I bet all that is just bull. There is no way that the reason for me to be here is because of a so-called destiny! I got tricked into being brought here!

But...why? Why me? Why couldn't it have been some other person?

Sigh, I need to stop thinking so much about it. What else can I do? There is nothing for me to do, but to look for a way to get back. What's done is done. What I need to do now is gather courage and move on.

“So now what do we do?” I asked Tsubasa.

“Hmm, well, I guess, walk?” he answered, as if a question, unsure of it himself.

“Okay, so our plan is to walk. Well, me walk while you float.” I said, pointing at him. He gave me a smile and nodded, “Nice, that's a good idea. I walk, you float. I get tired, and you get it easy. Yup, best idea, to walk with no destination, and no other plan, but walking. I like it...”
