Chapter 21 - Chocolate

Ouch.

My whole body was aching all over.

And stupid Shirokane-san won't stop laughing.

"Y-your hair is l-li-like a birds nest!" he got out between guffaws.

I glared at him. This was probably about the billionth--okay, maybe not--time that he has told me. "Ha ha, yeah. Very funny." I roll my eyes. "You are too mean! How can you just watch me fall and roll all the way down a path of dirt, sticks, and who knows what else?!"

He wipes a tear of laughter off his face, "Sorry, sorry. I just did not have time to react. You were too far from my reach to get you on time."

I scoff, "Sure you didn't. That's why you stayed at the top while I struggled through all the shrub instead of going down to help me. Right?"

I kept walking, ignoring what he said next. He was most likely going to laugh afterwards anyway.

Sumire wanted to fix me up again, but I declined before she did it out of her own accord like last time. She huffed in annoyance and grumbled a 'fine'.

But that didn't  deter her from trying to convince me. "How abou--"

"No, Sumire." I didn't even let her finish the question.

"No fair!" she pouts.

As we made our way to our next destination--which Tsubasa had said wasn't exactly a village but more of some kind of empire--I found out more about the fairies. Indeed Rin keeps things under control so they don't get too out of hand. The other two like to mess and annoy each other, though their relationship isn't one of hate at all.

It reminded me of how my brothers and I would be. We would always cause the other trouble and put the blame on someone else when something got broken. I was slowly breaking out of that habit and becoming responsible before I got whisked away.

"What are you thinking about?" Tsubasa came up to me.

I didn't even noticed a had tears in my eyes until I tried to look at him and noticed that my vision was blurry. I shook my head, "Just about how I miss home." I reply honestly.

He nodded, not asking more about it. "You should really get all those sticks out of your hair. I have to admit, they really do look like a bird's nest."

I groan, "Not you too. I've had enough of it with Shirokane-san."

He smiles, his eyes shining like a kid's full of mischief. Though, he just continues to walk next to me, keeping me company.

I wonder how far this so-called empire is? How much longer are we gonna have to walk? My legs are killing me and I can never seem to pleas my stomach, always asking for me to feed it some more after a while.

I also found out that it might be troublesome for me to get inside since I didn't have like, a passport or something. But Tsubasa soon said that that shouldn't be a problem, he could just make me one. I felt relief wash over me when he told me.

"Okay, that's it!" I said putting my hands up. "I need something to eat!" I couldn't stand my stomach grumbling any longer.

Shirokane-san immediately searched through his sac for something. Curiosity got the best of me and I looked to see what he would get out. Whatever it was, he took it out and held it out to me.

My face scrunched up at the sight of what he held. I could even feel bile rise up my throat.

"I am not going to eat that!" I held my arms in front of me in an X form.

"You said you wanted something to eat. This is something. Plus it is also full of protein."

"Yah, no. I am not going to eat bugs. Gross."

"Crickets are not so bad." he commented and ate one himself.

I shuddered in disgust. Sure, it might not be such a big deal for you, but I have never eaten and never plan on eating any kind of bug.

"I'll find food myself." I say and began to search, though I don't even know where to start.

"Good luck with that!" he called.

"Shut up!" I yell back.

In the end I didn't find anything to eat, except for leaves and grass if that counts, so Shirokane-san helped me out.  He found edible berries and caught a squirrel. We ate the berries while the squirrel cooked.

That probably took us less than two hours. When we were done we set off again. It's a good thing that we are the only ones who really need to eat.

As we were walking I remembered something and turned to Tsubasa without wasting a beat. "You said you could give me chocolate whenever I wanted. I can't believe I barely remembered that now!"

Tsubasa nodded.

"Can I....have chocolate now?" I asked sweetly.

Shirokane-san heard and asked, "What is chocolate?"

These people really need to get introduced to such an amazing creation, and pronto. I turned to him, "It would be faster explaining it if you try it yourself. Tsubasa said that he could give me some anytime." I gasp and turn to Tsubasa, "I could have asked you for food instead of having to struggle for it!"

"What would be the fun in that?" Tsubasa responded. "So, chocolate, coming right up." He snapped his fingers and then he was holding a box. He waved them at me, "These are it, right?"

"Yes!" I nod and snatched them from him. I didn't waste any time in opening them. The box seemed to have a variety of kinds; truffle kinds, cookies dipped in chocolate, and plain old white, dark, and milk chocolate. I popped one in my mouth and moaned at the sweetness. I think I may have even cried from happiness.

I got another one and handed it to Shirokane-san. "This is chocolate. Here, try it." I thought giving him one of the kinds I would prefer, which was a truffle, would be nice.

He looked at it weirdly, "What is that? It looks like feces, only harder and in a shape."

My mouth hung open. How could he?! That is so unforgivable! This amazing piece of heaven does NOT look like some kind of shit!

"Well, unlike what you were going to give me a while ago, this is unlike anything you have ever tasted."

He smirked, "Like I would ever taste my own feces."

I wanted to scream at him. "Just taste it," I ground out.

He grabs my wrist and pulls it towards his face. My eyes widen as he eats the chocolate, licking what melted off my fingers. Even though it should have been gross, it sent a shiver down my spine and made me blush furiously.

I pulled away quickly. "W-what the heck was that for?"

He seemed pleased with himself and had that same smirk back on. "That was actually not half bad." he licked his lips.

I turned away from him. "L-let's just keep w-walking." I said and resumed on to the path that we were going.

--------------------------------------------

This is probably short, I don't know.

Anyway, I love you guys! You always put a smile on my face. Knowing that I have people reading my story and liking it makes me so happy!

I honestly don't know much about Japanese history, like, duh, I don't nor have I ever lived there. But, hey, this is all fiction, so whatever. What I do know comes mainly from reading and some slight researching, so yeah.

Please don't forget to
