Chapter 11 - The Meeting

After I reluctantly decided to go with the shinobi. They brought me to a place that was a little bit off from the village. Tsubasa told me that this place was the actual shinobi village, while the other was just a normal village.

All the while they were taking me, I felt like a criminal. The people that we passed by looked at me wierdly and whispered to each other. Crowds would gather, and I just wanted to hide my face.

Stop staring! Don't you all have lives? Come on, I didn't do anything wrong! I really wanted to shout that, but the shinobi kept me from doing so. Do you have any idea of how intimidating they are?

All Tsubasa did was follow me. Sometimes distracting me from all the stares. I was really glad when we made it to the trail that leads to the shinobi village. And by that time, I really wanted to talk, I didn't care if the shinobi were scary or not. I just needed to get my voice out, being quiet for so long-- I just can't take it.

"So... do any of you own a kitten?" I asked the first thing that comes to mind. "I like kittens. Kittens are cute. So are puppies, they are adorable. I actually like almost all kinds of animals. Even snakes! I would love to own a snake..." I just keep on talking.

See? This is what happens when I don't talk for so long. I end up blabbering about anything once I start talking again. I can't control it.

The shinobi don't even glance in my direction. They just kept on looking straight ahead, walking to wherever they planned on taking me.

I continued anyway, "Do you guys like chocolate? I do, it's good. My favorite chocolate bars are the Kit Kat's. Would you like some? Wait! They haven't been made yet! Nooo, it'll be years until that chocolatey goodness comes to be! Or probably any chocolate.... Impossible. I can't handle that." I began to mumble.

For some reason, that seemed to at least get a reaction from them. They looked at me as if I was crazy.

"I wonder if I can get Tsubasa to get me one." I whispered to myself.

"Oi, what are you talking about?" the one on my left asked.

"I am talking about a heavenly creation I like to call chocolate! I probably won't be able to eat it again... Chocolate, why...?" I wonder if they have any chocolate, or am I right to he sad.

"What in the world is chocolate?" the same shinobi asks. The other one doesn't even glance in my direction.

I tiny sob escaped my mouth, "There isn't any chocolate? What am I gonna do? I can't go on like this!"

"Gabriella, calm down. I can get you chocolate whenever you want." Tsubasa spoke.

"Omigosh! Really!? Thank you!" I said that a little too loudly.

"What are you talking about?" the shinobi asks.

Oops, forgot that they cannot see Tsubasa. What should I do? Make something up or pretend I didn't hear him?

"Oh, hey I never got your name! And you don't know mine either, so how about we do a little introduction about ourselves. Yeah? Yeah. Okay, my name is Gabriella and I came from veeery far away. Actually I can't get back to where I am from so easily. It is close to impossible, but I will do anything to get back." I make my hand into a fist.

At that time I noticed that we had arrived to their village. There was some kind of wooden gate that surrounded it all around, and after we went past the gate, they lead me off to someone called 'hokage'.

They took me inside one of their buildings and soon enough I was in front of a sliding door. One of them knocked on the door and after hearing a faint come in, they brought me inside with them.

"Hokage, we have brought the one that has been making the villagers uneasy." the shinobi that was silent the whole time spoke.

The one they referred to as 'Hokage'  looked up after he said that and looked straight at me.

"Ah, so this is the one..." he mainly said to himself. "Very well. You may now take your leave." once he said that, the shinobi left.

"Now tell me. Should I trust you, or kill you this instant?" he said in a menacing voice.

"Well, umm. I would very so much love to stay alive. No need to kill. Wouldn't want your hands to get bloody now, do we?" I let out a forced laugh.

"I've killed many before, one more is nothing to me."

"Ahhah, but if you kill me.... I-I will come back and haunt you! Day and night, I will make sure that you always see me and remind you of what you did!" I blurt out. What else could I say? I am not the threatening kind.

"Haha, you sure are amusing. Sit down, no need to worry. I already know that you are harmless." he points to the floor as he tells me to sit.

I go to where he told me to sit and sit down on the floor with my legs crossed.

"What a weird way of sitting." I hear him say. "Anyway, now that we are both comfortable, do you mind telling me about yourself?" he asks.

"Oh, no, not at all. Sure, I am not comfortable telling you everything, but I'll tell you all that I am comfortable telling." I say and he gives me a nod. "I came from somewhere far away, like, really far. Well, I guess you could say that I as brought here, and now I have to find a way on my own to get back home. I actually don't really mind it, though -- sure I miss my family, but I actually really like this place."

"Is that so?"

I nod. I really do like this place. It gives a very different feel from back at home. Somehow, it is more relaxing, despite all those weird encounters I had. I wouldn't mind staying here for a while, that is, if it isn't too long.

"Yeah... If I could, I would love to stay here. Make my life in this place, and not have to worry about anything. Too bad life isn't that easy huh?" I give a soft chuckle.

"You're right, life can sprint up the most unexpected things," I nod. "even if that unexpected thing is being brought into my office when you are as innocent as a rabbit." he smiles.

I squint my eyes and make my voice as menacing as possible, "Wanna bet..."

We both end up laughing. Who knew I would suck so much at being threatening, even if my life did depend on it. I might have to swallow my pride and let someone help me if I ever end up in a sticky situation where my life could be on the line.

As we were both laughing there was a knock on the door. We soon stopped laughing and then the 'hokage' cleared his throat and told the person to come in. As the person walked in, I decided to keep my eyes to the front. Whatever they were going to discuss has nothing to do with me, if the 'hokage' tells me to leave then I will, but meanwhile, I will just mind my own business.

"I have returned." I heard a husky voice say that, strangely, sounded a bit familiar.

"Ah, Shirokane-kun." the 'hokage' spoke.

That got my full attention, "Shirokane-kun?" I said as I was turning, and saw the face of the very same shinobi that I had met at the lake.
