Chapter 28 - The Elder's Test
"Tsubasa, do you even know where the elder is?" I ask as he leads the way.
"Not a clue. But how hard can it be, right? It is said that it does not matter where you look for them, they will show up somehow or another." he explains.
"That doesn't make any sense. How can an elder show up just like that?"
"Well, this is their boundary. They should be able to find you easily whenever they like."
I felt like we had already been walking for hours, and yet, no sign of an elder coming any time soon. Not like I was complaining, I was enjoying the scenery that came while walking. It was such a strange place that kept me anxious to see what was going to be next. A place that you would have only imagined in your wildest dreams. It was that amazing and wonderful.
I felt like I was in unicorn land.
Childish, I know. But that's the only way I can think of to explain what kind of place this is. Only that there's a bit of something dark that could be seen somewhere along the distance. I definitely would not want to know what is hidden there.
"Shirokane-san," I spoke to get his attention as we were walking side-by-side. "I had this crazy thought. You know we've been walking for quite a while now?" I asked and he nodded. "What if, the reason the elder hasn't shown up yet, is due to the fact that I am not alone? I don't know, it is a crazy thought. If that were the case, then it should have only been me that should have been able to get through."
"Actually, no. I think that could be a possibility. There may be something that the elder wants only from you and we seem to be in the way." by this time everyone had stopped walking (or flying) and were listening to the conversation.
"I see! That should be it. I was only told that Gabriella had to see the elder and not more. I should have connected the dots and assumed that it should have been only you alone." Tsubasa said.
"Wait, but I was only thinking. Maybe the elder is just running late, or was busy, or...or...or is taking a nice warm bubble bath and forgot about the time." I try to reason, although it may have sounded better in my head.
"Right.... How about we just let you walk alone for a while, and after about an hour or so, if he doesn't show up, you come back and we will think of something then?"
I think of Tsubasa's plan. I guess there's no harm in trying it. It's not like I'm in any form of danger or anything here in the land of friendship--wait, isn't that my little pony? But still, I haven't seen something that could be a threat.
"Okay, I guess we can do that. But what will you do in the meantime?" I ask.
"Sleep, I am tired." Shirokane-san speaks without missing a beat.
"We can figure that out after, you should go already, we will wait for you here." Rin says.
"O-okay." I can't help but feel as if I'm being pushed to leave. I have no idea which way I should go from here. There really isn't a way that I can just follow, like a road and such, so I have to randomly walk wherever my feet lead me.
Who knew I would miss roads this much?
Let's just concentrate on trying to get somewhere. This place is full of loops and other kinds of weird things. The colors seriously do not correspond with whatever it is that the object is. For example, grass, trees, and bushes have some wacky color, like pink, purple, and even white. It's nice to see something so out of the norm, but it's also distracting.
"I wonder what's the reason for me having to see an elder. Could they be very old and wrinkly looking, with thin grey hair? Isn't that what it means to be an elder?" I wonder as I keep my walking. I don't even know how much time has already gone by.
