Chapter 5 - The Village

When we got to the village, I couldn't help but widen my eyes. It was so different. All the women were wearing kimonos, but you could also kind of tell who was wealthier. Some kimonos were brighter, cleaner, and above all prettier, which my guess would be because they have more money. But there weren't that many, there were more kimonos that were dull, and dirty. My kimono was pretty decent, it was kind of dull, but not that much, and mostly plain.

As I was walking by, I kept on getting stared at. I had no idea what they were looking at me for. I looked down to see if I was dressed appropriately. Nothing was out of place, so I continued to walk forward. The stares and whispers didn't stop as I walked. They were beginning to really bug me.

I couldn't take it anymore. I turned to Tsubasa to ask him, “Why do they keep staring at me? Do I have something on me or what?”

He looked at me, studying me. He then looked around to who were staring. He made a face like he was concentrating on only them and then turned back to me. “Looks like it is your hair and eyes that they are talking about. Other than that you look fine.” he assured.

I nodded. “Oh, that makes sense. I do stand out don't I?” I gave out a nervous laugh. “I should have noticed sooner. I do have different colors after all.”

My stomach grumbled. I wonder how long ago it was that I ate what the man gave me. We did walk for a while to get here. I guess it was time for me to get something to eat.

I glanced around to see if there were any places that sold food. We saw a building that looked like some kind of restaurant, and decided to go in. Once inside, I didn't expect to see how different it was. There were some kind of booth-like rooms and inside them there were like these short tables—which I forgot what they were called. I was lead into one of them, and given some kind of menu.

When I got my food I began eating and looked at Tsubasa. “Hey, Tsubasa do you not eat?” I asked him.

“Not really. We don't need food to survive. We can eat for pleasure, but that is about it.” he shrugged.

“Really? That's good to know.” I stared at my food. “Umm, is there anything else that I should know about?”

“I guess. There are more things about me that I do not think you know.” I lifted my head and looked at him. “I can use magic, that is one. An-”

“Wait!” I interrupted him, “You can use magic? Cool! What kind of magic?” I looked at him with anticipation.

“Anything, as long as it does not go against any laws from the heavens.” he replied.

“So can you, like, grant wishes?” I asked.

“Maybe...I haven't tried that before.”

“Interesting, interesting.” I thought of what other kinds of magics there are that he might be able to do. “Can you control any of the elements? Oh! What about making me be able to do something? Like flying, or breathing underwater, turning invisible, speed, instant transportation, super strength, being able to communicate with animals, telekinesis, telepathy...ooh how about mind control,” I rub my hands and do an evil laugh. “Though I guess there isn't anybody to use it on here.”

“Okay. Calm down and let me talk.” he smiled. “Umm, well, I can control the elements, yes. But to some degree. And about me giving you powers, I guess it kind of depends. If it is a life or death situation, I can give something to you that would be useful without any problems. If it just to fool around, then that is a definite no. Ah, that is until you get some of your own.”

“Wait, I will get my own powers? When? How? And how do you know?”

“I have been told. And that is one reason that I am here with you. I will watch over you and keep you company for now.”

“What do you mean for now?”

“You were told that someone was supposed to find you, am I correct?” I nodded. “Well when that person finds you, you won't only have me to be with. And this person that finds you will also be a human, like yourself.” he explained.

“Yeah..but, must I have him find me? I don't want someone to take care of me. I am capable of doing that myself.” I stated.

“You may say that now, but in time you will be grateful you have him and he you.”

I crossed my arms, “Is that so?”

“Yes. Now, I think you should leave the money for the food and get out of here. You are attracting attention.” he motioned to the set of eyes from the people around.

“Okay.” I whispered. A blush crept up on to my face while I took some money out.

I walked out of that place, breathing I sigh of relief. Well, at least those people received a free show of some crazy girl talking to herself.

“So now where to, Tsubasa?” I asked him as we began walking.

“I am not sure. Your the human here though, I am just a spirit.”

“Sure...” I rolled my eyes. “Let's see, how about we go look for a place to stay and then explore this...what is it? A village? I'll just call it a village. Let's explore the village after we find a place to stay at. I am sure they have somewhere to stay at, right?”

“I believe so.”

“Okay then! Let's go!” I walked in one direction while Tsubasa flew who knows where.

I looked around where I was at and tried to read what some of these buildings said, but I couldn't make out anything. Sure I can understand others and they can understand me, so then why can't I read. That is so stupid, there are things to read everywhere! Idiots...

Tsubasa then came down from above. He said he found somewhere to stay that was a pretty good place. He guided me there and when we reached it, the outside looked very decent and inviting. As we got inside it was very quiet and lonely for some reason.

I went up to a man that I supposed was the one that was in charge of this place and I asked if I could stay here. He was a really nice person I couldn't help but give him a smile the while time I was talking to him. I thanked him and then walked up to look for the room he gave me. When I got inside I noticed it was a pretty small room, but it looked really cozy.

I set the bag I had been carrying down inside the room and turned to Tsubasa. “This place will do for now. It really is a nice room.”

“Told you this was a nice place.”

“You sure did.” I giggled, “How about we go look around now? We need to make sure what kind of place this is.”

“No problem Gabriella.”

We went back out but before I went out I thanked the man for the room and told him it was a really nice room. He just said anytime and I followed Tsubasa outside.

We walked around the village. Gathering information about the safe places and the dangerous places to be. The must go to places as well. And the history about this village. By the time we were done it was night and I was tired, so we went back and I went straight to sleep.
