Chapter 17 - The Last Breath

Where the heck was I anyways? This place was pretty shabby and so uncomfortable. It was giving me the feeling of being in an isolated house like those in scary movies where people decide to go inside only to be met with an unlucky demise.

Hey! I didnt decide to go in here! Why should anything happen to me?

This is so unfair.

Back to topic. I need to find a way to get out of here. I wasn't about to let myself become like one of those people. Honestly, they really lacked common sense. Who in their right mind would go inside a house that looked like it had been abandoned for years? That would totally be the perfect place to commit and get away with murder!

Clearing my mind, I listened for which way was safe for me to go. It was either right or left. I first concentrated on the left. There appeared to be some noises, but I couldn't tell what was it that was making them, if they were made by people or not. Since I wasn't able to figure it out, I instead started to listen to the right. Instantly, I began to hear voices.

"Are you done with all the preparations?" That same voice I didn't recognize before asked.

"Yes sir." Lousy old man, you should bite your tongue and bleed to death. I majorly regret ever helping you!

Okay, so left it was. I walked out and made my way to the left, taking slow catious steps. I guess it was only them two. That made my getting away all the more easier. Now, all I had to do was find out which way was the doorway to freedom.

Jeez, where the heck is Tsubasa when I need him the most? Why would he just leave me like this? Isn't he suppose to make sure that I am okay? Plus, if he were here, I wouldn't even be in this predicament. What a great companion you are.

Whatever, I can get myself out of here without any help. I don't need to rely on anybody. I am perfectly capable all alone. Have always been and always will. Going back almost 500 years in time won't change a thing.

Ugh, why did this have to happen to me?

Where am I now? I stopped and took a look around. This place just keeps on getting more and more confusing.

"If you thought you could escape, think again."

I turned around and was met with a man that had a scar on his face, running from the outside of his right eyebrow and reaching across past his nose to his left cheek. The air around him was one that warned others not to mess with him.

"I congratulate you for reaching this far, but it is time for you to go back." he spoke calmly.

If he thought I was going to listen to him, he is greatly mistaken. I don't give up that easily. I gave him one last look in the eyes and made a run for it.

"A fighter I see. I have always rather preferred a challange." As he said that I kept running.

I didn't care about being careful, I had already been found out. As I ran, I felt like I was going deeper in instead of getting out of here.

But how could that be? That wouldn't make any sense. Though, I still felt like the more I ran, the further away from escaping I got.

I heard laughter come from behind me. One that almost made me stop cold on my tracks. "Oh, poor little you. Thought you could run away from me? Surprise, surprise! You have only managed to get yourself stuck further in and away from your freedom."

Wow, way to go and ruin my optimism. Even though I had a feeling, couldn't he at least let me have a little hope?

"Now, stop running and no harm will come to you. But, if you want to do it the hard way, then fine by me." I could almost feel a smile creep onto his face.
