Chapter 25 - Talk About Crushes

Apparently, Tsubasa said that there was going to be a change of plans. We were no longer going to have to stay at the Emperor's palace. Although we did decide to stay for some breakfast, best to get back on our travel with a full stomach. After breakfast, we said our good bye's, but it seemed like Ichirou-san wanted to join us. I used the excuse that he has always been sheltered for his whole life, so it would probably not be the best course of action for him, plus he would be better off if he just stayed, we may end up needing his help from the palace.

We already had everything we needed packed, which was actually not much. We did, after all, come basically with nothing. All of the stuff that we had to pack consisted mainly of gifts that we were given by the Emperor. In the end, we only stayed at the palace for three days. It was actually quite nice to be treated as if I was really important. I can see why people would do whatever to reach such a position.

"Where are we heading to now, Tsubasa?" I ask.

It was strange that Tsubasa wasn't talking so much. He has only spoken a few times since he said that we had to leave.

"Go past the boundary, meet the Elder, and prove your worthiness." was his answer.

I thought about it before it registered into my mind what he had said, "What?! Don't tell me that this is actually some kind of riddle quest that I will have to overcome?"

Tsubasa sighs, "You only prove your worthiness. How? You will find out once you talk to the Elder. The real question right now is, which boundary?"

I furrowed my eyebrows, "What do you mean by that? There is more than one boundary? And you are saying that you don't know which?" Tsubasa nodded. I gasp, "Does that mean that it's possible it will take a while to find which one it is?"

Rin flies in front of me, "Worry not. It should not be such a hard task figuring out where we ought to go. There is only a total of four. And two of those are not at long distances away. I am sure that we will choose the right one."

I look over to Tsubasa to see what kind of reaction he has. It appears that he has everything under control. If there wasn't much information given in which boundary to go through, I assumed that it would have to be one of the two closest ones. But, come on! Not even a hint? That would have been nice! What if we end up going through the wrong boundary?

"I would ask, but I do not want to know the reason behind that stupid face you have just made." Shirokane-san pull me back to reality.

I gape at him, "Stupid face? What do you mean by 'stupid face'?!"

"You kept on changing your facial expressions for some unkown reason simply out of the blue. It would have made for a good show, save for the fact that this is not a time to be fooling around." he replies sternly.

Well, sorry. I raise my hands up in mock surrender.

"We should concentrate on trying to figure out where we need to go. Boundaries are classified by the limit of knowledge and greatness in strength. All that means is that in order to know which is the right one to go through, we need to understand where exactly you fit in. How weak and how strong you are." he explains.

All of this is just plain confusing. I feel like I get it, but then, at the same time, I don't have a clue. If I just put my mind up to it, I'm sure I would be able to. Right now, I feel so incompetent. I know I am definitely much better than this. So then why have I only been showing such uselessness? I have never even once thought of myself as a useless person. Not until I came here. Well, that just means I have to work on improving myself.
