Paige
It's always been so simple. It's always been me and my friends. I don't know where I'd be without them. I my name is Paige, and I'm an only child, all I have is my cat named Claire. I knew my cousin Keith my whole life, he's my age and goes to the same school as me. He has three other siblings, his older sister Katlyn, who is seventeen, his older brother James, who is fifteen, and his little sister Riley, who is nine. Pretty cool right? And a bit weird that one of my best friends is my cousin. At least that means we get to see each other more often, and we do. When we were in kindergarten, I met a girl named Declana. She shared her chocolate chip cookie with me. And when you're in kindergarten and someone shares a cookie, you must be best friends with them. Declana has a little sister named Margaret, who is seven, a dog named Billy, and a pet duck named Buster. Everyone liked Declana. And for some reason the only person who didn't like her as much, was Keith. From the moment I introduced her to him, he hated her, and she didn't like him ether. But because I stuck with them both no matter what, they were sort of forced to become friends too. Sometimes they got along just fine, sometimes not. That's the story of my life, always stuck in the middle of everything. Declana is one of the prettiest and nicest girls in our class, everyone loves her. Keith is one of the most athletic boys in our grade, he always gets picked first for sports teams. I just don't have that thing that makes me special, at all. At least I have the most amazing friends imaginable. And when they're not having their occasional fight, we make a great team. Currently, we're all twelve years old and in grade seven. There's this other girl in our class, her name is Allison. She's also one of the prettiest and kindest girls in our grade, much like Declana. In fact, they're so much alike, that everyone expects them to be best friends, maybe even sisters! But for some strange reason, they just never bonded, but they don't have anything against each other either. For some other strange reason, Declana has a small mental disability. In fact she's the only person ever in her family to have one, which is quite peculiar. When other kids in our class found out, they all thought Declana was dumb. I don't think she is though and neither does she. She's quite clever actually. Keith on the other hand is certain she's the dumbest person in the world. Big surprise. There's also a kid named Ernest in our class. His Mother is a doctor and his Father is a scientist. I just know that because he kept on bragging about it in grade two. Ernest, like other boys, has always liked Declana, but has a really short temper and I'm not surprised Declana doesn't like him at all either. It's always been like that, and you get used to it real quickly. I just hope it doesn't change.
