I avoided Declana that day, I tried to get her out of my head as soon as possible. But somehow, she kept finding her way in, and taunting me inside. But I wouldn't have to think about her whatsoever today because today was the big middle school basketball tournament! Every middle school somewhere around town had to come and play there best. The winner team would get a huge trophy, that basically has our names written on it. We're gonna crush this. Which is the reason why I jumped out of bed as early as I could, toke a shower, got dressed in my jersey and running shoes, ate a very healthy and delicious breakfast, and ran out the door without even saying goodbye. Our team had to meet early in the morning so we had time to go to the school where the tournament is taking place. Nobody from our team was away, thank goodness! We don't have substitutes. Once our coach made a head count, we were on our way. The school wasn't that far away, so we had time to set up there before the games start. Many other middle school teams were there too, but they all looked sluggish and weak so I knew we could take them. I was on the first shift of our first game. I chose to guard a tall boy with curly hair. I hope he's not too good. The whistle blew and we were off! I kept guarding and guarding that kid before the ball got to one of my teammates. Finally it did. It went to Ethan. I cheered him on and ran away from the kid to hopefully be one of the people that Ethan passes to. But Ethen wouldn't pass, he just ran. He had a clear shot. But then I realized that shot was leading into our net! I had to get the ball away from him! I ran as fast as I could. Ethan was already starting to dunk. But just in the nick of time, I swiped the ball away from the net and to a different teammate. "What was that for?" shouted Ethan and pushed me hard to the ground. I didn't even try to explain. I just brushed off my clothes and walked away. The game went by great. We were winning against all the other teams. But something about Ethan reminded me about something Declana said. Especially the time when he walked off talking with a member from the other team, laughing, and not letting me even get close to them. Declana was right. I was wrong. I wronged her in so many ways. I had apologize. Before it's too late.

I was very exited for the Spring Fling Concert today! I woke up extra early, got ready as soon as I could, and raced away. Never had I ever been so happy to go to school. Once I got there, I noticed all the boys in our class were missing except Ernest. At least this gives me perfect time to forget about some. I met Paige and Allison there too. Since the whole celebration starts after lunch, we practiced loads before that. After what seemed like a millennium learning about stuff we're never gonna use in life, it was finally time. We all got ready backstage. The concert is the first thing at the Spring Fling celebration. Allison went up first, as usual. She sang the most beautiful song I've ever heard in my life! No wonder she's so popular. Next up was Paige. I honestly wouldn't say she's good or bad at singing, somewhere in the middle, but lightyears behind me. Singer after singer after another boring singer, it was finally my turn. I walked onto the stage, feeling a little bit queasy. I sang my favourite song. I was so in touch with the world. But the song reminded me of Keith deeply. How he doesn't like me anymore. How I lost my best friend. How no one can replace him. From all of that, I started to cry. My song was cut off and I just kept crying. I fled from the stage and went into the audience to find my parents. I wept inside their arms.
