When Justice Calls

I grabbed all the blue roses I could find in Declana's room and dashed down the stairs and out the door. I needed to find Keith. Tell him we've all been fooled. And ask for a little help. I wasn't going on a rescue mission by myself. I got to his house fast. I burst in without knocking. I was really surprised none of his siblings saw me race into their house but it's cool. I slammed open Keith's door. He was on his phone. So much for being alert.

Keith

"Keith! Drop it! We have a crisis on our hands!" Paige exclaimed. I looked at her, surprised. How the heck did she get in my house? No one told me she was coming. "Did Claire run away again?" I asked sarcastically. It's the least I could do."No! Declan's in great danger!" she yelled. I looked at her, alert. Declana? In danger? Now I was listening. Paige replied, "Long story short Declana might've eaten a petal of one of these blue roses and if Ernest's parents reject the juices from her body while she's going camping with them, she may die! The juices prevent you from ever getting sick. Ernest bribed me to help split you and Declana apart so know one could save her. I went along because you guys weren't paying any attention to me. I'm sorry. Now I have to pay my price. But I can't do it alone. You must help me find her in the forest and save our friend. I know you may not want to go but-" "I do! Declana is and always will be my best friend! As will you be too," I stated. Paige smiled. Of course I was highly confused about her very rushed explanation and what the heck were the blue roses in her hands, but I'll do anything to make it up to my best friend. "Justice calls," remarked Paige. "Into the woods," I answered. And from that moment we made our move without delay. We wrote notes to our parents' that we joined Declana and Ernest's family's camping trip and will be back on the weekend. We packed some essentials, like a full water bottle, a big sleeping bag, a basket of apples and breadsticks, a compass, and a flashlight. It's the things we could get to first, and fast. We put on some warm clothes put our things in our hiking backpacks. We won't know when we'll need to loss some weight so some of these things may not come back. We ran out of our neighbourhood and onto Medowdall Hill. We took a deep breath as we entered the deep dark wood ahead of us. Here goes nothing. As soon as we entered the area the tall trees blocked the sun, leaving us in the dark. "I've studied how to track down the location of where these blue roses came from. Whenever carried the blue rose is the only flower that leaves a faint trail of blue nectar behind it, even if inside a bag.  It has a very intense smell and if I'm not mistaken we can follow it to the exact place where it came from," stated Paige. She sniffed in the fragrance deeply. "We head west." I was wise to not question her methods, but there was only so much a person could smell. The reason I didn't question her was because I remember how she sniffed out a hidden sunflower patch on a hiking trip back in kindergarten. She's probably descended from bloodhounds! We trotted through the endless forest for hours. I kept watch of any potentially dangerous animals, berry patches, or rivers. This forest is known for being quite wild. And by that I also mean the fact that a nerd is hiding my best friend here somewhere. And threatens to harm her. But we'll just see about that. Justice calls.
