Somewhere between candies and cigarettes, we grew up
Somewhere between apple juice and whiskey, we grew up
Somewhere between scraped knees and haunting scars, we grew up
Somewhere between letting our hearts soar and disregarding expectations, we grew up
Somewhere between speaking our mind and keeping our silence, we grew up
Somewhere between wearing our hearts on our sleeves and caging it up, we grew up
Somewhere between believing fairy tales and being consumed by harsh realities, we grew up
Somewhere between glowing innocence and enveloping evils, we grew up
Somewhere between smiles and scowls, we grew up 
Somewhere between sweetness and bitterness, we grew up
Somewhere between singing at the top of our lungs to not even making a sound, we grew up
Somewhere between  trusting and betraying, we grew up
Somewhere between valuing people and valuing things, we grew up
Somewhere between forever and temporary we grew up
Somewhere between hoping too much to not at all, we grew up
Somewhere between laughs and cries, we grew up
Somewhere between forgiving in the blink of an eye and holding grudges, we grew up
Somewhere between colouring books and social media, we grew up
Somewhere between living in the moment to regretting the past, we grew up
Somewhere between making mistakes to creating harmful habits, we grew up
Somewhere between having our angels and being chased by demons, we grew up
Somewhere between hiding stolen sweets to burying stolen hearts, we grew up
Somewhere between smiling from joy and smiling to pretend, we grew up
Somewhere between disliking vegetables and stopping to eat completely, we grew up
Somewhere between fake tattoos made with paint and real ones inked with needles, we grew up
Somewhere between fighting demons and welcoming our monsters, we grew up
Somewhere between staying up to watch cartoons and sleeplessness from insomnia, we grew up
Somewhere between breaking toys and breaking ourselves, we grew up
Somewhere between playing board games and with people's emotions, we grew up
Somewhere between building legos and building walls around us, we grew up
Somewhere between falling asleep to lullabies and and crying to sleep, we grew up
Somewhere between listening to stories and turning to poetry to heal us, we grew up
Somewhere between not thinking things through at all and overthinking, we grew up
Somewhere up "I'll never leave" and "come back to me", we grew up
Somewhere between expressing how we feel and lying about our emotions, we grew up
Somewhere between opening up and closing off, we grew up
Somewhere between love filling our souls and heartbreak, we grew up
Somewhere between "don't go" and "leave me alone", we grew up
Somewhere between this chaos and madness, we grew up

  Truth is we all grew up, losing our fire to a dull flicker of a flame. But did this really have to happen? When we grew up, did we have to give up our light? That's up to us
