That messed up teen with a train wreck of a life. A solemn promise to never fall prey to the world of smoke that consumed others. As he ignited the flame and held the cigarette in it, he stared at the burning embers turning to ash. A fading trail of smoke escaping the lit end. Slowly he brought the cigarette to his lips and breathed it in, letting the toxins fill his lungs. He pulled it away and then breathed out a cloud of smoke. Like a dragon's fire it escaped past his lips, disappearing into the night sky. Once again, he brought the poison to his lips letting himself sneak a kiss with death. Sitting on the rooftop alone at 3 am he twirled the lethal white object like some toy. Once more, he brought it closer but this time he inhaled too quickly and blew out an enormous puff of grey breath. The smoke stung and burned his eyes, it caused him to cough with a dull fire in his throat. Rough and hoarse, that's what it felt like. Too fast, he thought as he tried to regain control of himself. He tried to spit out the disgusting taste of tobacco but alas, it was to little avail. He wondered how other people found solace in this. Peace in this suffering. Comfort in this pain. He crushed the burning spark under his shoe and tried to forget all his worries. Wishing they would fade away as easily as the smoke, disappearing into thin air. But the bitterness of the cigarette would still remain in his mouth, long after the flame of it had died.
