Calamity

"It's here," Urbosa said as we all looked up to the sky just above the castle. Dark red-violet colors swirled in a mist of fog with red lightning coming from it. The ground still shivered from the roar of the beast.

"This is it, then . . ." Daruk's voice said with no fear.

Mipha finally appeared afraid, but she remained calm as she asked, "Are you sure?"

Revali was the one to answer her since the rest of us hadn't seen Ganon for ourselves just yet. Again his tone was somber. "Positive."

I didn't need that confirmation though. After the doom I'd felt all day, it came as no surprise. It was more painful to know than anything else. I really had no time left.

"It's awake . . . Ganon!" I cried as I watched the storm of red darkness cover more of the sky.

Daruk went into his warrior mode as he turned to me saying seriously, "Let's stop wasting time! We're gonna need everything we got to take that thing down!" Standing up straight, he bellowed, "Now Champions! To your Divine Beasts! Show that swirling swine who's boss! Link will need to meet Ganon head on when we attack! This needs to be a unified assault!"

I continued to stare at the dark clouds. Daruk's voice was muffled in my mind despite how loud he was speaking. Link would be going to fight Ganon face-to-face. I was supposed to be his protection. I was supposed to be going with him!

"Little guy! You get to Hyrule Castle," Daruk continued while I took in only some of his words, "You can count on us for support. But it's up to you to pound Ganon into oblivion!"

Finally noticing how I was still staring off at the storm, Urbosa placed both of her hands on my shoulders. The pain ate away at my heart. Father was at the castle. He had put so much faith in me in gaining my power. It had gotten him killed.

"Come. We should go," she said, then she added, "We need to get you someplace safe."

Her words brought me out of the pain. I couldn't believe that I wouldn't play a part in something I'd prepared my whole life for. There was still hope! I needed to do something.

"No!" I declared, sharply facing Daruk and away from Urbosa's protection, "I am not a child anymore! I may not be much use on the battlefield . . . But there must . . . There must be something I can do to help!"

Daruk looked vexed as he ruffled his white hair. He didn't know what to say to me. I didn't even know what I would have said to myself.

"Zelda," Urbosa said as I whirled around to look at her. Her brows were furrowed while her arms were crossed. "I know your father drilled it into you that you needed to gain the sacred power at any cost. I also know you enough to tell when you're going to keep going even when it means death. It is not your place to die for your kingdom."

I shook my head, "But it is Urbosa! I was meant to fight along the side of Link. Every legend I have ever read tells of that. In some way, I must help. I cannot do that tucked away! You even said yourself that anything could awaken the power."

Revali, understanding my reasons for wanting a place in this, stepped forward. "She has a point," then his tone changed to his normal overconfident one, "Now, don't we have a swine to catch? I'm sure with the Divine Beasts we might not even need her sacred power or that flimsy sword."

He expanded out his wings, "I'll be ready when the rest of you are."

Urbosa was about to protest, but he had already used Revali's Gale to fly away. She sighed and stared down at me. Her gaze directed itself towards Link.
