It was strange being a part of Midna without her knowing it. I could hear everything she was thinking and her memories. She was just as scared as I was for the day she would become more than a princess. Her family was gone, just as mine, and her power weakened. And both of us had the same goal: to get our kingdom back to what it was.
As she hopped onto Link's back. I could feel her anger along with her bitterness for what I did for her. It was normal for her to feel that. She wanted to believe the people in this realm had no sense of duty or courage. That it only mattered to save her people.
Once they got to the roof, they teleported, traveling through the warp hole and landing in Hyrule Field. It was the early morning with gray clouds covering the sun. I was hoping to see the sun rise again . . . guess I would have to wait a little longer.
Link began to run away from the castle when there was sudden brightness coming from behind. They turned around to see the whole castle had been encased. I wasn't shocked. As for Midna, she clenched her fist and snarled.
Then her muscles relaxed as she looked down at her form as if just realizing that she was no longer affected by the light. From her thoughts, I knew she didn't understand what I had done completely, but she did believe there was a way to save me. And that my body had been cut off from her as it would appear lifeless soon or later in the castle. I knew it was a part of the risk, and I wouldn't have changed my mind no matter what. Right now, Link needed her alive. She knew about Zant and the Twili more than I did.
She sighed as confidence grew in her. Both she and Link faced the road that led to Faron Woods. Traveling through they made it to what was once known as the Lost Woods. Now it was called the Sacred Grove. However, those who had gotten lost in the forest remained there, looking for anyone to mess around with.
Skull Kid took no time to begin teasing Link. The only way to find him was by listening carefully to the sound of Skull's Kid horn. And every time I thought we had him, he slipped away by disappearing in the wind while his puppet-like followers attacked.
After hours wasted wandering around to find him, he finally had enough play time. I could feel Midna getting frustrated even though I swore she shared the same laughter and views on what fun was as Skull Kid. Through all of the hide-and-seek games though, we ended up right where we needed to be.
Entering the structure of ruins, Link went right up to the symbol of the Triforce on the ground. His eyes looked towards the large statues in front of him, a little wary. I could sense Midna's thoughts were similar.
Lifting his nose to the sky, I was surprised when he howled. At first, I wasn't sure what he was doing, but then I heard the tune. How did he know the lullaby that was only passed down through the Royal Family? Searching through Midna's thoughts and experiences with Link, I saw no evidence as to where he learned the songs.
My mother had once told me that the lullaby had been shared with only one person outside of the Royal Family. My grandfather referred to it as foolishness caused by young love. As my mother put it, however, she thought it wasn't a mistake at all nor foolishness. I believed her words when I found out this mysterious outsider turned into a swordsman who died bravely in battle.
As I thought about that, I wondered if it was possible. Possible for this swordsman to come and teach what he had learned down to Link. Midna may not have noticed it because, as I have discovered, spirits possess a special kind of power that can only be seen by certain people.
When the song finished, I focused back on what was happening, seeing everything through Midna's eyes. Everything around us started to change. The floor was cut up with gaps all around. The statues started to glow blue and then lept in the air. One landed in front of Link and the other behind.
