"And you are sure your dad doesn't know anything?" Kellie, your girlfriend, intertwined her fingers with yours while you walked along the sidewalk towards your house. It was a warm spring day, your school bag hung over your shoulder, the birds were singing, the sun was shining and you were floating in the bliss of being with the one girl in the world you loved.

"My dad knows nothing, and I'm pretty sure it's better that way."

Pete, your dad, was a great guy, a brilliant musician and one of your best friends. But you were afraid, no, actually terrified, he would disapprove of your relationship with a girl. You didn't know why. When you thought about it rationally, you knew there was no reason for him to react badly, but you still were scared. One day you would tell him. Of course you would not always live in the closet, but today was not the day. You just wanted to walk home, say hi to Pete, and secretly make out with Kellie in your room afterwards.

"Okay," Kellie whispered, pressing her soft, red lips gently against your cheek. She always smelled like raspberry. You did not know why, she did not wear perfume, but she always smelled like raspberry. Her soft touch and the delicate smell made you calm down and you smiled at her.

Once you got into the sight of your house, Kellie let go of your hand and smiled at you encouragingly. You opened the front door and let both Kellie and you inside.

"Dad," you shouted into the silent house. "Dad? I'm home!"

A few seconds later Pete appeared in the doorway to the kitchen, a dish towel over his right shoulder.

"Hello (y/n)," his eyes flickered to Kellie, "You brought someone with you?"

"Yeah, dad, this is Kellie, a school friend." The lie you told made your heart sting. She was so much more than a friend, but for now this little lie was for the best. "Kellie, this is Pete, my dad."

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Wentz," Kellie extended her hand for Pete to shake.

"Nice to meet you, too, Kellie, (y/n) told me a lot about you" Pete took a few steps forward, shaking her hand quickly. "So what do you girls have in mind for the rest of the afternoon?"

"Math homework mainly," you answered, knowing fully well that this was another lie. "Mr. Lewis gave us a shit ton of exercises."

Pete quietly giggled at your expression. "Dinner's at seven, Kellie, you are of course invited."

Kellie nodded with a bright smile.

"And if you like, I'll make tea in about an hour, so if you need a break from studying...?"

"Sounds perfect, dad," you nodded, quickly pecking him on the cheek before walking over to the staircase. "We'll be upstairs!"

Kellie followed you upstairs to your room. She had never been over, so her eyes glided over the walls and furniture, glad to be let into your most private room.

"I really like your room," she noted, sitting down on your bed.

You closed the door and abandoned your school back into a corner of the room. "Thanks!"

"But seriously, math homework?" Kellie giggled at your lame excuse.

"Well," a mischievous grin appeared on your face as you walked over to the girl of your dreams, "curve tracing, you know?"

You sat down on her lap, your knees on both sides of her hips, running your hands up and down her waist. Gently you pushed her back on the bed so she was laying, then you connected your lips to hers. She responded to the kiss eagerly and a shiver ran down your spine as she slipped her hands under your shirt, drawing small circles into your bare skin.

You kept kissing and kissing and drowning in each other's touches and little moans. This girl had totally stolen your heart and you felt drunken in happiness, knowing that she was all yours, that you loved her and that she loved you.

"I've made t- oops."

Without you or Kellie noticing it, the door had opened and Pete stood in the door to call the two of you to tea.

As if you both had been hit by a lightning bolt you jumped away from each other. You heart beat a thousand miles an hour and you could basically feel the panic rise in your chest. Pete had already slammed the door shut again.

"Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit," you whispered, running your hands through your hair.

"Shit, (y/n), I'm so sorry," Kellie murmured, tears starting to well up in her eyes. "I didn't want to mess up-"

"You didn't mess up," you told her, somehow managing to control your panic and quickly scooting her up in your arms. "I should've locked the door; it's not your fault, really. Shh, calm down, love." You gently kissed her hair, wiping away the tears that had escaped her eyes.

"But what if he kicks you out now, because of me?" Kellie was probably more scared than you were.

"He won't," you told her, making your decision, "I'm gonna talk to him." You separated from the shaking girl and stood up.

You found Pete in the kitchen. He was standing at the window, looking outside, his back facing you. Kellie had followed you and shyly stood behind you.

"Ahm, dad?" Your voice was quiet and sounded a lot more confident than you felt.

When Pete turned around you saw his face was red and he had tears in his eyes.

"You literally jumped away from each other," he breathed before rubbing his hands over his eyes and breaking down laughing. "I thought this only happened in movies." He was laughing so hard he could barely breathe.

"Okaaayyy?" Confused you turned around to Kellie, but she just shrugged. "You're not mad?" You asked, just to be sure.

"Mad? At best I'm sorry for walking in on you like that!" Pete was still laughing.

"Dad, I don't think you understand, Kellie is not just my friend, she is my girlfriend and I love her."

Pete stopped laughing and stared at you, his eyes wide. "So what?"

"Dad, I'm gay." There was really no way to misunderstand that now, was there?

But Pete just giggled again. "I know, sweetheart!"

You shot Kellie another confused look, but she just stared at Pete.

"I think I knew before you even knew," he continued. "It was hilarious, watching you figure it out and suddenly becoming all careful around me with that topic."

"What," you asked weakly. Was he being serious?

"And then you bring home this girl you've been talking about all the time and think I don't see the way you look at each other? (Y/n), I am your dad, I've know you before you even knew yourself!"

He was being serious.

"Oh," was all you managed.

Pete walked over to you, hugging you tightly and kissing your hair.

"I really, scared you, hm?"

You nodded, sighing relieved. Finally you knew you could talk to him about how much you were in love with Kellie.

"And you know what? I think we should document the two of you with a photo for the family album."

Pete loved to document awkward situations for the family album.

"No, Dad, no way," you told him but he already reached for his phone, a devilish grin on his face.

Quickly you turned around to Kellie and grabbed her hand.

"Run," you shouted giggling and together you ran out the kitchen, up the stairs, being followed by an equally giggling Pete.

"I'm filming all of this!"
