January 4
Late EveningWell I'm back in holy land. The birthday "surprise" from Aunt Starr consisted of going to bible study and then dinner in a boring little restaurant. She sprang it on me the
moment I got in the car when she came to pick me up at Terry's. The whole way home she jabbered excitedly about her plans and that "A good dose of the word" wouldn't
hurt since I'm young and in my formative years. Ugh!
All day in school today I dreaded coming home and considered hiding out at Vangie's or Ginger's. But I knew that was hopeless, because Starr would just go from house to house looking for me, causing a scene and embarrassing me in front of my friends.
So when the time came I gritted my teeth and bared it. It was so boring though! At one point I nodded off, and Aunt Starr pinched my leg to wake me. Man did that hurt! Then
all through out the dinner she scolded me for not paying better attention, saying; "Young ladies should always be on their best behavior in public."
I sat in silence and waited for her to finish so we could go home and I could vent in you, Diary. In many ways we are already so close and I can tell you anything with
out being judged. I've even found a special hiding place for you so Aunt Starr can't find you! Even though you come with a lock, I still don't want to take any chances.
