Beacon Of Hope

Author: I wrote this 3 times deciding how i wanted it to go... This was the last one and the one i was actually content with how it went.

(Character: Y/N) (Age: 17)

I awoke to a knock at my door and a muffled voice on the other side "I'll be right there!" I said as i got my combat outfit on and opened the door. "Hello Altin is it time for training?" He looked at me then groaned "No Y/N you, Stein, Eule and Charles are heading to Vale today, to attend Beacon academy remember?" That's right... It was decided that we'd be leaving Mistral and going to Vale to attend Beacon Academy. Since that is the best huntsmen academy...according to Altin that is.

"Oh yeah... Sorry i guess i just forgot" I yawned out making my way to Stein's room, since it has always been my duty to wake him up...i sighed as i thought this, always cranky when he has to get up. I knocked on his door. "Get up! We're le-" Before i could finish the door jolted open and their was an over joyed Stein standing right before me with Charles next to him looking up at me. "I know, today's the big day! Aren't you excited to be heading to Beacon Academy!"

I looked at him and smiled "Never thought i'd see you this happy about anything" i said which made him laugh as he's walking quickly ahead of me. "Well my naive friend, naive little Y/N, their was never anything for me to be excited about before this!" I now groaned "How did Altin ever put up with you..." I said as i dragged my hand down my face. Oh i almost forgot, i ran over to a window and opened it. "Eule!" i yelled out and he responded by screeching back and flew in through the window onto my left shoulder.

"Morning buddy, ready to go eat before we head out?" He chirped as we went to the dining room which really looked like a mess hall and ate our breakfast before we headed out for Vale. We said goodbye as we went and got inside the bullhead that's taking us to Vale. "Oh did father tell you where we'd be staying for the night, since the initiation starts tomorrow?" Stein asked me. "Uhh... no? I just assumed we'd be staying at Beacon"

Stein started to panic "What if we can't? Will we have to stay on the street? That might make us late! Oh no they're probably gonna kick us out!" I grabbed him by both his shoulders and started shaking him "CALM DOWN! You're gonna give me a headache...They'll let us in...probably" He calmed down a little bit but was still sweating.

We reached the capital of Vale and saw a floating island above it all with a large building on it. Stein began to jump for joy with Charles in his hands who's meowing from all the movement. "Sorry Charles! I just got excited" Stein said in a worried tone as he groomed his little fur ball of a cat. I sighed and looked at Eule who mimicked my movement by looking at me. When we looked out of the airship we saw another airship heading for Beacon but is a decent ways behind us. "Hey look, it seems we beat the others here. Must be pretty full if we were quicker" I joked while pointing to the other airship as our pilot opened the doors "Welcome to Beacon!" The pilot said as we stepped out and looked around the floating island known as Beacon Academy.

Stein could no longer contain his excitement and started squealing like a mad man. I started laughing "I can't wait to write about this in the letter home to Altin" I said laughing at him in which he started blushing in embarrassment "Y-you wouldn't dare!" He got out as he looked at me, to which i just smiled deviously. "Well do you know where we have to go? I said as i looked around confused. Now he was laughing at me "Of course i know where to go, i studied this place and Altin did go here. So he told me what we had to do when we first got here, so follow me Y/N my naive friend"

Eule and i looked at him and shook our heads as we followed him to the auditorium and saw that it was empty. I was confused by this and asked "Uhh... You sure you know where we're suppose to be?" He looked insulted by this "Of course i do! No ones here because we were first! Haha! Let's stand up front and represent our family proud Y/N" I gave him a fake smile since i still don't believe i'm a part of any family... But he does and i guess i should be happy with that. We stood up front as kids started to pile in and stand in groups with their friends. Stein held Charles as Eule stood on my left shoulder. "Why are you holding Charles? He is a loyal pet and isn't going to run away"

Stein looked at me jealously "Well your bird might not run but Charles doesn't like big groups of people" He stated keeping up his proud persona. I smiled and leaned in closer to Charles and started scratching behind his ears "Are you gonna run? No its just Stein being overprotective isn't it" Charles meowed in response which made Stein grit his teeth "Tch...Fine" Stein said as he set down Charles who sat by Stein's feet making him smile until he looked at me causing him to return to his proud stance.

While we were talking 2 figures appeared at the stage, 1 man and 1 women, the man looked friendly and calming, while having this mysterious aura about him. The female looked dignified and proud. She'll probably be Steins favorite teacher i thought which caused me to smirk until Eule flew over to the man, landing on his shoulder. I covered my mouth not knowing what to do, i had never trained Eule, no one had. He's just always followed me since the slaughter of my family and friends.

The man simply smiled and began to speak. As he spoke his voiced sounded soothing and calming, like he knew exactly what to say to make people come to reality while still keeping moral. Stein was fully absorbed into his speech like many of the students. I was listening, his speech seemed to calm me from an uneasy feeling i've had since the day i was given my dagger. That ended once his speech ended and the female spoke telling us where to go and sleep for the night. I headed straight there, it felt like i could sleep forever at this time. His voice was almost like magic...

I truly never wanted to be a huntsmen, i only am doing this to repay the debt i have to Stein and Altin for taking me in when i was broken. On our way there i heard a familiar screech and felt the same talons i had always felt on my left shoulder. I smiled to my winged friend and pet him. "Nice to see you to Eule" I didn't know what else to say, he wasn't my bird- he wasn't anyone's bird. He did what he pleased when he pleased.

Once we were inside we set up our sleeping bags and i crashed straight onto mine and was ready to pass out. That was until i heard a voice that sounded strange, like i had heard it before but it was different? I don't remember ever hearing a voice like this. I turned my head to see a golden haired girl speaking to a...black and red haired girl. It was Summer and Tai's kids... What are they doing here! Why is Ruby here? She's 15! My mind started pounding along with my heart in the process i bit my lip without realizing it until Stein spoke to me "H-hey you okay? You're looking at those 2 with some pretty scary look on your face" I looked at him which frightened him.

"I'm fine...Lets just get some rest" I wasn't fine, it was obvious to Stein but he wasn't going to question it. He lied down as did i, Charles curled up next to him while Eule flew outside. I tried to get some sleep but couldn't for obvious reasons. I laid in my sleeping bag contemplating every reason they would be here, now, how, and why.

Why? Cause their entire family has been huntsmen, mother, father, and uncle. How? Obviously they went to an academy for it, and being in a family of huntsmen would help. But now? Yes Yang should be 17... But Ruby is 15! It seems all the luck i've had for the past year has run out.

I tried to ignore them but i couldn't get their faces out of my head. Yang, doing what she always would do... Hit me and make dumb jokes while Ruby would ignore me or just make fun of me in the least creative way. Their faces remind me of Tai and Summer... I started to feel sick and dizzy so i laid my head back and finally past out after hours of waiting.
