'Money'

chapter 22 - another baby

- That i did, but i came back long before either of you were born, i didn't just rush in when you were out of your mother, i was at her side the whole time, 'Money' says.

- You were worried as fuck for nine months at the time, i say, looking at him.

- That i was, very, 'Money' says.

- Once he was back home after he'd been gone, he didn't even let me go to the damn toilet alone, he used to be standing in the doorway, staring at me til i was done, i say, laughing at the memory.

- You did? Ana asks in disbelief.

- You bet i did, 'Money' says. I was like a guard dog, guarding her every move.

- That's kinda weird, dad, Ana says.

- Jacob... i say. I have something to tell you.

- What, baby? 'Money' asks me.

- Do you remember when they said i might not be able to have anymore kids? i ask.

- Yes, how could i forget that, but what are you trying to tell me...he says, curious about what I'm about to say.

- I did a test last night, while you were sleeping after we had, you know...

- And?

*takes his hand and puts on my belly*

- In 8 1/2 months...you'll be holding your son or daughter, i say.

- Are you sure? Are you...is there...will we have...but i thought...they said you...'Money' says.

- Im sure, and the doctors said it was possible i could have more children, but that it was unlikely, i say.

- Jackie...oh my god, oh baby...we're having a baby...we really are having a baby... 'Money' says, breathless.

- I could do a test on you, today, here, and you'll get the results right away, the nurse says.

- Yes, please, i say.

- Come with me, the nurse says and takes me and 'Money' with her in to a room where i, with my husband's help get on a bed and get my pants and underwear off.
