"Breathe deep breathe clear. Know that I'm here."
Another nightmare. God, how much Bucky hated those dumb nightmares. Not just because they were just absolutely dreadful, but because they kept him from cuddling you. During the night, because of the thrashing and whimpering. You were always checking up on him. He worried terribly about you, but you didn't mind helping him. Every night Bucky's nightmares would reach all Time horrors. You'd whisper in his ears words of comfort. The words you gave him resulted from sketchy nightmares, to wonderful dreams. His favorite dream was the one about the beach.
"Bucky Barnes! Please I beg you, don't drop me in this cold water!" Y/N squealed as I carried her bridal style over the ocean. It was a nice vacation from S.H.I.E.L.D, and a even better honeymoon. I thought for a moment, giving her a small smirk.
"James!" She wailed before we both dropped into the chilly waters. "You ass!" Y/N joked jumping on my back. I laughed wildly, as the people around us watched. For once I didn't care about the eyes staring us down."
Bucky awoke and looked at his girlfriend. In all her gloriousness. The clock that sat beside your bedside table read 5:38 AM
Bucky climbed from the bed and got dressed in work out clothes, before he left he looked at your sleeping frame. It hurt him at how tired you'd become since being with him, god.
"Stay strong, stay gold. You don't have too fear."
The sun shined brightly through the curtains. You yawned and tried reaching for the usual arm that would scoot you closer. The fact that Bucky wasn't waiting to cuddle you, was.... scary. You shot up in bed. Where was he? Even when his nightmares were horrible, he always waited for at least a ten minute cuddle. The room started to become colder as you realized that you weren't wearing a shirt and you didn't have a duvet covering you. You stood and pulled a hoodie on before walking downstairs. The Avengers all sat at the table eating, their heads shot up when you walked in. Natasha and Steve stood.
"He's in there, but he's not talking to anyone." Steve commented to you, you walked into the training room. Bucky's muscular frame stood over by the punching bags. One bag was ripped and scattered across the sparring mat. You rushed over to him, and put a soft hand on his shoulder. He whipped around, and immediately softened when he noticed the worry's in your eyes.
"Buck, whats going on?" It was odd. Bucky's blue orbs avoided your e/c ones.
"I'm sorry, you have to deal with the nightmares. It's my fight. I fear that.... one day the nightmares are going to drive you away from me." His hands drop to his sides, and pieces of hair fall into his eyes. You move them behind his ears, and give him a smile. Tears falling from his eyes and yours.
"James, when I started dating you." You put a hand on your hip and faked a thinking face. "Almost two years ago, I knew that you'd still have your demons. I knew that PTSD was going to happen." Bucky let out a stiff laugh.
"I still love you regardless. That's never going to change." Bucky finally looked back up and into your eyes.
"I'll see you soon, I'll see you soon."
Only two more weeks until you and Bucky would be reunited. The mission lasted longer than you and him intended. The worst part of it all, Bucky had no one to comfort him. The bed was empty and so were his thoughts. Two more weeks.
Bucky plopped down on the bed. It was almost midnight, he flipped the lights off and turned to the side. His eyes dropped and he soon was asleep. At first he was expecting to be met with the painful dreams, but when it was sunny and you were kissing his neck he knew it was different.
"Bucky, I really do love you with all of my heart." I looked down at her, she was topless and was laying on my bare chest.
"I know you do." I commented, even though I didn't believe it myself.
"I'll see you soon, I can't wait." She climbed atop my chest and placed kisses on my lips."
Bucky woke up as the morning sun was breaking through, and all though it was as sunny as ever. Rain poured down viciously on the city. Call Bucky cheesy, but he was sure that today would be better. You were with him always, and that was reassuring.
(time jump is going to be a big one, bear w/ me:) Two Months Later:
The night was young, only about one or so. Bucky hadn't had one nightmare, it was so refreshing for everyone. You were having an amazing dream.
"Doll, you look absolutely stunning!" I looked over at Buck. I spun around in the purple sun dress.
"Your such a liar, Barnes!" A kiss placed on my lips. His soft, warm lips. Almost took my breathe away. I can't breathe."
Bucky was dreaming, he didn't mean too. His hand was around your throat. Someone was hurting you in his dream, but in real life it was him.
"Baby! Bucky, please stop. I love you, it's me!" You pleaded. The darkness was taking over, and soon it was all you could see.
"How could a heart like yours, ever love a heart like mine?"
You're eyes flutter open and the lights blinded you at first.
"You're awake." A broke voice spoke. You turned and looked to see Bucky.
"Bucky!" You tried saying in a loud voice. He stood and sat on the end of the bed. Suddenly, tears started pouring from his eyes.
"Why are you still with me, still loving me?" You sat up, and went to say something before he stopped you. "I'm a fucking monster, I nearly killed you. I nearly killed you. How could you? A light, a beautiful, smart light. Love me? A dark, an evil..... murderer!" You were crying now, and you placed a hand on Bucky's cheek,
"Stop, baby. You need to listen to me! I love you, I know you didn't mean to hurt me! I know, Bucky." You pushed his head to your chest. His sobs filling the room, yours was as well.
"Imagine, just me and you. Sitting on a hammock, without anyone. Just me and you."
"Are you naked?"
"Shut up Bucky."
