We stare at each other for a second, just taking in the others face. "You're fascinating." I say breaking the silence. He quirks an eyebrow and I regret saying it, as I wait for rejection, again. But he only smiles moving closer. "You think so?" He...

I step of the bus and onto the crowded sidewalk. This had always been my favorite place to go, even as a kid. Running around looking at the stores set up on the street, all the colors, and different music colliding together. It felt like home. I smile to myself and look around for my favorite store.

(I know the name doesn't, match but whatever this is how the shop looks.) ______________________________________ I see it out of the corner of my eye and smile. It was called Beyond the. Beyond the what? I don't know? I had always thought they'd just ran out of paint, couldn't finish the sign, but another part of me thought there was a deeper meaning behind the sign. I exhale slowly and walk towards the shop. I open the door and a familiar ding let's the cashier know I'm here. He looks at up at me with a bored expression before gasping and I smile slowly. "Long time, no see ay?" I ask walking over to the desk. "Dallon, what? When did you get back?" He asks, climbing over the counter and wrapping me in his arms tightly. "Li, can't breathe." I cough out and he let's me go, giving me a big grin. "Sorry, it's just been ages since I last saw you." I nod and ruffle his hair. "How's school?" I ask, following him into the back room. He groans. "It really does suck ass, dude. My social studies teacher, Mr. Brin? yeah, he's a real cunt. Four projects in 3 days!? I mean seriously? But hey, I only got one more year and then I'm free at last." He explains, taking me back to my school memories, those were the days. "Anyway, what's been going on with you. I know you haven't visited since, you know." I nod slowly, because does anyone really want to talk about their parents dying? No, but I clear my throat and explain everything to him. Including Ryan. _
He rocks in his chair silently taking in everything I had told him. "So let me get this straight, he yelled, insulted, and left you...and you're still pining after him? Why?" I roll my eyes and grunt. "Because I love him. God, doesn't anyone understand? I have to help him. Something's not right." I rush out. He gives me a pointed look and shakes his head. "Okay, what's so wrong with him then?" He asks, and then I'm stuck because I honestly there's alot, maybe too many. "He twitches alot and..he talks to himself, his mood swings are crazy. He hears things, like people screaming. I heard him talking about it to Spencer, his crazy 'best friend'." I finish and Liam looks confused out of his mind. "Well, maybe you should take him to an asylum. He seems a little loony." He says, making circle motions by his head and laughing slightly but stopping when he's sees me glaring. "Ookay then, no jokes. When did you become such a stick in the mud." I roll my eyes. "Because I'm old, Liam. You turn bitter when you get old." I tell him, leaning back in my chair.

(Okay so he's not supposed to look that angry but I deadass googled Dallon Weekes in chair and only Brendon kept poppin up so this was the best I could do😂)
"Yeah, you are pretty old aren't ya. Anyways back to your crazy boyfriend, maybe he's possessed? Sold his soul? He's got the symptoms of a soul seller." He jokes and laughs, like it's the funniest joke he's ever made, but then it all clicks in place. "Oh my god, you're right." I tell him, getting up out of the chair. That makes sense, the way he's been acting. His laughter stops. "No, no Dallon, please, stuff like that doesn't happen in real life." He says, motioning for me to sit back down. "Look where we are for crying out loud. We're literally in a black magic shop! Why do you work here if you don't believe in what your selling?" I yell and walk to the front, leaving him dumbfounded. I look around at all the books, chants, and spells. There's gotta be something in here. But then a certain book catches my eye, engañando al diablo. It looks so familiar, but I can't pinpoint it and then I do. My mind goes back to the second time I'd met Ryan, the day that changed everything.
•flashback•
"engañando al diablo ? What does that mean, I know Diablo means devil in Spanish. Did you know that? I only know before I took a Spanish course in highschool. engañando..? I think that means outsmart. Do you know if that's right? You should cause it's your book..you know?" I'm about to go on when he interrupts me with a glare. "Do you ever shut up?" He asks me, pulling out books from the shelf. I scoff, and glare at his back, he stops moving the books and turns to me. "Look, I just like the quiet, sorry if I hurt your feelings." the apology was dry, but I accept it anyway, and end my rant about the book I had found. _
"Hey, do you know Spanish?" I ask, turning to face Liam. He stops telling me I'm crazy and smiles. "As a matter of fact, I do." He replies, cockily. I roll my eyes and snort. "Well good, what does this say?" I ask, handing him the book. His eyebrows knit together for a second before he's handing the book back. "Cheating the devil, why?" He asks, and my heart drops slightly. "Because Ryan, as a matter of fact, has the same exact one." I huff out and hand the book back to him. "Translate it now." I demand and he gives me a look. "Translate it now, please?" I ask, and he smiles with a nod. "That's better." he states before opening up the book.
_
I rush out to catch the next bus home, if what the book said was true, then Ryan's gonna need all the help he can get. I take out my phone and text Brendon, telling him to meet me at mine in a few hours. I have to check on Ryan first. Liam rushes after me. "He sold his soul, for crying out loud!! You can't go back to him, he's dangerous!" He shouts from across the street. I wave down the bus and get on.

"I promised him I wouldn't leave. I made a promise and I won't break it." I say, getting onto the bus. "Bye, Liam! I'll visit soon. Thank you!" I yell out the window as the bus speeds off. I stare out at the trees, and think of Ryan. If only I'd known. I think to myself, I know he's suffering and my heart cracks at the thought of it. I pull out my phone and smile at the picture of Ryan that pops up. I took it just before we'd fought. I close my phone and sigh. I didn't know then, I didn't know how to save you.But I'm gonna save you now, Ryan. Just Wait for me to come home.
