A/n- What a very true caption about Jack ^^
After an awkward introduction to Emma, Dotty's mother and a hello from Christopher, Dotty lead Fionn up to her room where she had her suitcase out from where she had used it in Dunkirk.
Fionn looked around the room, it was obvious that the one wall where she had posters had been altered recently, there were gaps and slight markings from where the blu-tack had been. He assumed that was where all of the one direction posters had been.
She had a wall where washing lines were hung across with pegs holding up some photos, many pegs weren't occupied and just sat hanging onto the line. It also had the head of her bed and camp bed pushed against it. The last had nothing other than the door.
Her room was simple but lovely at the same time. There wasn't much else in it which confused Fionn, where was all of her things? The cupboard and drawers had clothes and underwear in, nothing else.
"Dotty, this may sound rather odd or in some respects, rude, but where is all of your things? Like books or anything?" Fionn Asked her as she started putting some underwear in her suitcase.
She stood up, brushing off her jeans before taking Fionn's hand leading her next door. "I'm an only child so, mum and dad, let me have most of my things in here. Just so it's not all cluttered." She pushed the door open, a book shelf, a couple of bean bags and some other items.
"Fair enough, I was just wondering. It must get boring as an only child." Fionn replied as they made their way back to her bedroom.
"It can be, but like I have mentioned before I have many cousins so they visit. Plus, I used to have Anna and a few others from school but they were more Anna's friend than mine."Dotty told him as she took out some t-shirts a couple of jumpers, a pair of jeans and a pair of leggings.
She dumped them on the floor and began to roll them up. Fionn sat down beside her and helped with the rolling of her clothes and placing them into her suitcase, trying his hardest not to glance at her underwear. He was very thankful when it all got covered by the rest of her clothes.
"I was going to ask about that, have you spoken to Anna lately?" Fionn asked, pushing down her clothes so that her socks and two pairs of shoes could fit.
Dotty shook her head, "Not since she asked for money back in Dunkirk. It's been quite nice to be honest. Anyway, what have you been up to whilst home?"
"I stayed at my dad's for a couple of nights, then Harry came over then you guys and well, here we are." He chuckled softly as she sat on the case to help her close it. Fionn carefully zipped it up and stopped when he reached her, placing his hands on his knee. "Dot, I want to tell you something. I don't want pity or anything, I just want you to know so that it isn't awkward if it comes up in conversation."
"Okay, but only if you are sure." She smiled at him placing a hand on his.
Fionn nodded, "I say my dad's and not my parents because my mother she died, a few years back. I just wanted you to know because it's rather awkward when someone asks about her and I have to tell them. I'd rather you know already because I trust you and well, I don't know really. I just did."
Dotty nodded in understanding, "it's okay, thank you for telling me, and trusting me. I wasn't going to question as to why you only said your dad's house because it wasn't my place but now you have told me, if you ever want to talk to me about her you can. I know that is a stereotypical thing to say but I am being truthful when I say you can. I always listen even if you ring me up in the middle of the night. Or turn up outside the house in the middle of the night."
Fionn leaned up on his knees embracing the girl in a hug, "Thank you for understanding."
"It's fine Fionn. Now that you've told me that, you want to know and secret about me and my parents?"
Fionn pulled back, "Dot I-"
"I'm adopted."
He furrowed his brows, "seriously?"
"One hundred percent, no one knows because I was a baby and they got to name me. When they heard about a baby being found in a shoe box near a bin by a rubbish collector, they got in touch with the authorities to adopt me. I was left with a note of my date of birth, time of birth, and weight at birth, that was all. Not even a name. Only family and close friends know and now you. Not even Anna knew, I never felt like I wanted to tell her."
Fionn was shocked. He wouldn't have guessed that the girl before him was adopted. She shared similar features with Christoper and Emma but when he took another look at her he could also see their differences.
"Wow..."
"It's weird isn't it? I share similar features to my parents like hair colour and things but I didn't genetically inherit them from them. I don't care that I was adopted. I don't care that I was dumped at a few days old near a bin. I love my parents, Christoper and Emma. They are my mother and father. Now you and I both have shared something about us that is quite secretive."
Fionn smiled at the girl, his thumb grazing her cheek bone. He dipped his head and pressed a short kiss to her cheek.
"Thank you. For both understanding and sharing that story with me." He told her as a blush creeped onto his cheeks matching Dotty's. They stayed staring at each other for a while, his thumb still running across her cheek bone and a smile on their faces that matched each other's perfectly. A pair of crooked-teeth-smiles. Smiles of pure affection.
