//So fucking sorry these take 9 hundred years//
You peer down at your phone, making absolutely sure you're standing in front of the right house. It's fairly large and spacious, though it's the smallest on the block. It seems to suit Barry perfectly somehow. You inhale once more before pressing the doorbell and waiting with baited breath. Part of you wonders if you should just turn around and cancel plans. You hate doing it, but your nerves are through the roof. Barry is such a quiet, sweet guy and you'd hate to bother him. You bite your lip and finally make up your mind to leave.
"Hey, Y/N!" Barry greets gently, holding the door open.
"H-hey," you mumble, turning to face him and twisting a ring around your finger. "I'm sorry I'm a little late, but I-"
"No problem," Barry chuckles, stepping aside as further indication for you to come in.
You shuffle in, nervously nibbling on your nails as you walk. Your eyes flicker towards the two masses of feline fluff wrestling on the living room floor. There were various screens of different sizes with DIY Halloween craft videos pointed towards the large white loveseat. Barry plopped down and patted the seat next to him.
"Quite the operation you've got here," you tease, settling down next to Barry.
"I take Halloween decorations very seriously," he declares with faux reverence.
"And I take it these little sweethearts are on pumpkin-carving duty?" You giggle, pointing to the quarreling cats on the carpet.
"I'm cat-sitting for Suzy and Arin while they're running errands. These little assholes are Mochi and Mimi. I'm sure they'd be more helpful if they had thumbs."
You pick up a bundle of black and orange streamers and a pair of decorative scissors. You don't particularly know what you need to do, but you figure if you try your best, you can at least play the role of the world's best interior decorator.
You both work diligently for a bit before your eyes flicker up to see Barry looking at you pretty intently.
"What's up?" You ask a tad awkwardly.
"I...I was just thinking about how happy I am that you came," Barry chuckled, pulling Mochi onto the couch with you two. "I don't normally have much help with the decorations for events and it's not much fun doing it by myself."
You nod and smile, nudging him softly.
"I'm more than happy to help! I love Halloween and you're..." You stop short and blush.
"Hm?"
"I'm glad I get to spend time with you. You're fun."
Barry blushes and drops his focus down to the decorations again. He smiles as if to set your anxious mind at ease. You two continue working before Barry rushes to the kitchen and returns with two mugs of hot chocolate.
"I figured the sugar might be good on a quiet night like this," he explains, handing you a mug.
You nod again and cradle the mug in your hands. The warmth sets you immediately at ease as you melt into the sofa. You hum quietly and contentedly, melting further when Mimi curls up on your lap. This is heavenly for sure.
"This is gonna sound weird, but I've been trying to get around to watching Rocky Horror for a year now and-" Barry began, only stopping to take in your starry-eyed expression. "Well, if you weren't doing anything for the rest of the night..."
You grin and nod, hugging Mimi to your chest. A movie night with Barry didn't sound bad at all. You lean your head on Barry's shoulder and let out a quiet, contented sigh. You could feel yourself falling asleep just from how calming the atmosphere is.
