note: i have no idea how old roark is! bulbapedia says hes young, so im saying that hes about nineteen to twenty-one. so hes twenty-one. in my point of view.
The Oreburgh Mine. You loved that mine; you visited everyday with your Charizard, trying to find stones and fossils. It was really fun!
One day, though, the mine was closed. You had panicked- the thought of not visiting the mine once a day hadn't occurred to you, so every single day, for at least five hours, that's where you would be.
What would you do for five hours?
You decided that by sitting right beside the mine. Charizard sat beside you, and he went to sleep while you just sat there, trying to think about something other than the mine being closed.
Maybe what you would have done? That would be fine.
You leaned against the mine, letting your eyes slip close. A little nap wouldn't hurt...
---
A sigh slipped through Roark's lips. He wished that the mine wasn't closed, but he knew that it was for the best...
There had been a cave-in somewhere, after all. But if there wasn't, then...
A blush creeped onto the adult's face. He nudged his glasses up, cordovan eyes showing multiple different emotions. If there hadn't been a cave-in, then he could stare at _____ all he wanted...
Arceus, how he loved her. She was way out of his league though- sure, he ran the mine. Sure, he was a Gym Leader. Sure, he was pretty strong...
But this girl was the most extraordinary that he had ever seen. More beautiful than any Pokemon (or girlfriend that he'd had), tougher than he was- add brave to that, too. He wanted to hold her, and love her, and-
The blush on his face darkened, and he closed his eyes, trying to forced all of those kinds of thoughts out of his head. He glanced over at the mine, and he seen a wonderful site:
_____ was leaning on her Charizard, and both were snoozing.
A smile formed on his face as he walked over to her. He noticed the picnic basket she always had with her, and he couldn't help but chuckle softly. Roark sat beside the smaller-than-him girl.
"Hey, _____...wake up..."
---
A small groan slipped through your lips. You were having the best dream- you had just found a lot of jewels, for Arceus' sake!
"Whaahhh..." You opened your eyes slightly, closing them again before rolling over- and onto someone else.
"H-hey, I don't mind this, but we kind of aren't in any relationship- y'know, whatsoever." It was the voice of the person who you'd rolled onto apparently.
"Shut up for like...gnn...an hour...? I don't know...stay still..." you mumbled. Your arms wrapped around the person's torso, and you nuzzled your face into their stomach.
"It's kind of rude to tell the runner of the mine to shut up, _____." You turned your head, looking up to see a fairly young male.
"Sorry. Kind of upset about the mine being closed- dreaming of what I wished would happen one day. You know my name, so what's your's?" You nuzzled into his stomach again, not caring about the blush on the guys cheeks.
"My name's Roark. I'm surprised that you didn't know, honestly..." he chuckled, and you felt a hand start to stroke your head. A sigh slipped through your lips.
"Where d'you live?"
Roark blinked. Wha... "I, uh...I don't live that far from here. Two houses forward, take a right, third house down. Why?"
"Cause you're really comfy, and we're gonna take naps together..." Roark's face turned a light shade of red. "Don't even say no...cause the mine's closed...and I don't have anythin' else to do righna..."
"But we barely know each other?" Roark said, looking down. A sigh slipped through his lips, but he smiled anyways. God, _____ looked so cute...
...but that's definitely why he wanted to look out for her. Even if he could never be anything more than friends with her.
