She looked so happy. It...I knew it was fake. I watched as she flinched whenever her boyfriend would raise his hand, how she would shy away from him whenever he asked for something.
It bothered me. I could tell that she was a bro- she kept looking over to where I was- but he kept pulling her around and keeping her away from where the bros and I were.
She didn't seem to like most of the places she was pulled, and I watched as her eyes turned from that fake happiness to true sadness. I...I couldn't stand it anymore.
"Marzia, can you take care of the bros for a while? I need to do something," I whispered quietly to my girlfriend.
She nodded, and I told her that I would be fifteen minutes. That's when I left, half-listening to her announcing how long I would be gone.
I was frowning- I guess that you could say it wasn't normal for me to frown. Or be serious. Especially when my bros could be watching me.
"How's it goin'?" I asked as I stopped beside the couple. The girl looked up at me pleadingly. Her eyes were clouded with pain, sadness, and hope.
"Go away," the male snapped. "No one likes you."
"I...I do..." the girl mumbled. Her voice- it broke my heart to hear it.
"No you don't! We're leaving, right now." The guy grabbed her wrist, and I watched as she flinched.
She gave me that same pleading stare, and I...I couldn't help what I did next. (No, I didn't do anything violent.)
"Let go of her." My frown was set.
"Why should I? You ain't the boss of me." He turned to face me, and there was a glare on his face.
"If you can't tell, she wants to hang out over there with the bros," I pointed over to the people gathered at my spot. "And, you're hurting her. Isn't he?" I turned my eyes to the girl.
She seemed to panic when he looked at her, but the way her head bobbed up and down set the next piece of the story.
"You little bitch!" the guy snapped. Before I could do anything, a bright red mark was across her cheek.
I heard someone call for security. As quickly as I could, I pulled the male away from the female, using myself as a form of...shield.
So, the punch that was to go to her, went to me. Or, my chest- where her head would have been.
That force would have killed her- or put her in critical condition. How long had she been taking this?
The security guards came, and I don't know why they thanked me. I didn't care why.
I watched them drag the abusive guy off, before turning to face the girl. She had tears streaming down her cheeks, and a lot of people- pretty much every single person there- were looking at us.
"Are you alright?" I asked her quietly. She hesitated, before her head did the little up-down bob again. I pulled her into a hug; she definitely needed one right about then.
I looked over at Marzia, and I knew that she got the message when she called the bros' attention, telling them that we were going to be leaving.
"What's your name?" I asked the girl quietly, letting her out of the hug. She grabbed two of my fingers- the index and the middle- and said that her name was _____. Marzia walked over as she said it.
"That's a really pretty name!" she said. A smile formed on my girlfriend's face. "It suits you, because it's just as pretty as you!" I watched as a blush danced on _____'s cheeks.
"Do you like cake?" I asked, walking slowly. Marzia was on her other side, arm resting around the girl's shoulders.
"Yessir. Cake is really nice..." It seemed to be an automatic answer.
"What kind do you like?" We were outside now, and walking to my car.
She seemed dumbfounded. "I...have a choice?" She was so adorable!
It was kind of sad how she didn't know anything outside of...that. "Of course! You don't have to deal with that guy anymore. He's all taken care of!" I said, trying to get a smile on her face. It seemed to work.
"I, uhm, like -typeofcakehere-..." A tiny smile was dancing on her lips.
"Oooh~ I know a cafe near here where we can get lunch, too! There's a lot of good things!" Marzia said, smiling brightly. _____ smiled, too.
I really hoped that she would get really better, really soon.
~few months later~
"_____?" I blinked. Wow...
"Hm? Oh! Hey Felix!" she replied, giggling. She was holding the hand of a really attractive male, and they were both laughing together.
"How've you been?" I asked, still shocked.
"I've been great! A lot of things have happened since we first met." A smile danced on her lips. "How've you been?"
"I've been amazing! I got a few new games, and some of them can be played with four people." I grinned, hoping she got the message.
"Me and Dev are free this weekend!" I watched as her boyfriend nodded. "So would we be able to play with you and Marzia?"
I nodded quickly, happy she got it. "Yeah! We can all sleep together, too- like a big sleepover!" I added, laughing. She giggled, and Dev was smiling.
"My name's Devon, by the way."
"I thought that's what it was. Nice to meet you!" I held out my hand, and he shook it. Nice grip, nice personality, nice hair...he was perfect for _____.
She was perfect for him, too.
"See you two Friday at twelve?" I asked.
_____ nodded. "At that cafe that we all really like?"
I nodded, telling the two goodbye. I couldn't wait to tell Marzia!
