The investigation- a riverdale fan fic

Chapter 4

Toni say down next to the serpents out at lunch.
"So, who's the northsider?" Sweet Pea immediately asked.
"I'll tell you when we finally kiss." Toni complained. Most of the serpents laughed but she could tell Betty and Jughead wanted more of an answer than that. As Toni began to eat she heard some serpents gasp. Toni turned to see what they were staring at and found Cheryl, crying by the school's gate.
"Toni!" Cheryl spotted her.
"Cheryl!" Toni broke into a spring across the grass. She threw open the gate and pulled Cheryl into a kiss. Toni didn't care that the entire gang was watching them. Cheryl's tears seemed to ebb.
"What happened?" Toni wiped Cheryl's tears onto her jacket.
"They, they found Jason's body." Cheryl stopped to cry more.
"Oh Cheryl." Toni held her close to her. "Why don't you come with me to get my stuff and then we can go to Pops?" Cheryl nodded and the two went inside Southside high. They hurried to Toni's locker, trying to avoid Toni's questioning classmates. Polly had just come out of class when they arrived at Toni's locker. Polly immediately hugged Cheryl.
"Cheryl? What happened?" Polly asked.
"Jason's body was found at the river." Cheryl sobbed. Polly's stuff fell out of her hands.
"No. No. We were having dinner tonight!" Polly shouted. Betty came running down the hall.
"Why don't we do this somewhere more private?" She ushered them into an empty classroom. As Cheryl and Polly cried together, Betty pulled Toni into the corner.
"What happened?" Betty asked.
"Jason's body was found this morning at Sweetwater River." Toni whispered. Betty stood there in shock, processing.
"I have to go see Archie." She decided.
"I'll take Cheryl to Pop's and you and Polly go find Archie." Toni walked back over to Cheryl and grabbed her hand.
"Why don't we go to Pop's now?"
She asked. Cheryl nodded and bid farewell to Polly.
"What can we do?" Polly asked Betty.
"We can go find Archie."
