Cheryl had to sit on the highway's guard rail for twenty minutes before Veronica and the others drove up to her.
"Finally!" Cheryl yelled as Reggie opened a door for her.
"Sorry! I got a ticket for speeding." Veronica explained. Cheryl laughed and shook her head as they drove back to Reggie's house to hang out.
"I also kind of let it slip that we are running an investigation." Toni said slowly. Cheryl groaned. "Sorry."
"It's totally fine, Cheryl." Reggie promised. They passed Pops.
"Just don't tell anyone." Cheryl let the conversation die away. Reggie and Toni started talking about all the games they could play at Reggie's house. They passed Riverdale High, reminding Cheryl of school.
"No one cares about our finals?" Cheryl asked, a tiny bit worried about her GPA.
"We can study later." Veronica promised. Toni plugged her phone into the stereo and cranked up the volume before looking for a song.
"Just don't play rap or country." Reggie said.
"That is why we're friends." Cheryl pointed to Reggie. Reggie shifted uncomfortably. Cheryl and Veronica both noticed it.
"What?" Cheryl asked him.
"Nothing."
"Seriously, What?"
"Are we friends?" Reggie asked loudly. "Because one minute we were best friends and the next minute we weren't." An uncomfortable silence settled in the car. Reggie ignored Cheryl's attempt to joke it off.
"I'm sorry." Cheryl finally said. "I didn't realize it and now that I have, I'm sorry." Veronica and Toni tried to give them as much space as you can give in a small car.
"Did you even miss our friendship?" Cheryl didn't reply. Reggie sighed and looked out the window.
"I did miss it. It was just for the first time in my life I had a girlfriend and I didn't have Jason anymore."
"I understood it when Jason died. I just didn't understand once you stopped mourning. But then you had a million friends in the serpents so why should I be surprised?" Reggie said coldly.
"Honestly Reggie, I am sorry. Can we please be best friends again?" Cheryl begged.
"You guys should go to one of your houses." Reggie decided. The rest of the ride was silent. Veronica drove into Reggie's driveway and he got out.
"Reggie, please." Cheryl called to him. He glanced back before walking inside.
"It'll be okay." Toni promised.
"Will it?"

Archie paced back and forth outside Jughead's trailer. How could Cheryl keep so much from him? Did she not trust him? She certainly thought he had no idea what he was doing when it came to crushes. There was no way he liked Jughead. Right?
"Are you ever going to knock?" A voice interrupted his thoughts. Jughead was standing on the porch of the trailer. Archie ran over to Jughead and forced him into a hug.
"Whoa!" He laughed. He noticed Archie's expression. "Are you okay?" Archie shook his head.
"Come in, I can make us some coffee." Jughead lead Archie inside.
Archie sat down on Jughead's couch and put his head in his hands. They sat in silence until their coffee was ready.
"Do you want to talk about what's bothering you or just talk about some random thing?" Jughead took a sip of his coffee. Archie set his coffee down without drinking any.
"My sister hid what really happened to Jason from me." Archie rubbed his eyes.
"What really happened?" Jughead rubbed Archie's back.
"A serpent drove him to suicide. Some guy named FE I think?" Archie could feel his eyes start to water. "She thought I didn't need to know it."
"FP?" Jughead whispered. Archie looked up at Jughead.
"What?" He asked.
"That's my dad." Jughead choked the words out. Jughead's breathing started to quicken. Archie grabbed Jughead's arms.
"Breath. You're okay. Breath." He repeated until Jughead's breath stabilized. Archie noticed that Jughead's body was almost on top of him. Before Archie could think, he kissed Jughead. One quick kiss. Jughead looked at Archie in shock.
"I'm sorry..." Jughead cut him off with another kiss. And another one. Time seemed to stop as they kissed. Eventually, Archie broke off.
"But you and Betty."
"We're over." Jughead kissed him again.
"I don't want to be your rebound." Archie quickly said. They paused for a minute.
"You could never be my rebound." Jughead smiled at him. "I like you Archie." Jughead took his hands. Archie laughed. "I think I could tell." Suffice it to say, Archie didn't leave until the next morning.
