Chapter 23

(That afternoon)
Archie nervously pulled up to Jughead's trailer in his car. It wasn't as fancy as Cheryl's but it was still fancier than any from the Southside. He got some ugly stares from neighbors as he stood on the porch and worked up the nerve to knock on the door. As he was about to knock, the door opened and Toni walked out.
"Archie?" Archie could have sworn a mischievous smile was on her face. Are you here because of Cheryl?" She asked.
"No, don't worry. I'm here to talk to Jughead." Archie explained. Toni seemed protective but Jughead's head appeared behind her.
"It's fine T. Let him in." Jughead walked into his living room.
"Bye Jug!" She called as she walked towards her grandfather's trailer, giving Jughead a wink that made him blush.
"Bye T!" Jughead motioned for Archie to come in. Archie looked around the trailer, taking it in. The biggest thing he noticed was the fake fish on the wall. It looked like something you might tag in a photo.
"So...why are you here?" Jughead asked.
"I came to apologize."  Archie simply stated. "I was a real dick to you for no reason and I'm really sorry about it." Jughead turned what he was hearing over in his head.
"I accept your apology." He put his hand out for Archie to shake. After they shook, Jughead let Archie stay and enjoy a beer.
"Anything else you want to say?" Jughead asked. Archie took a long sip.
"To make up for my behavior, why don't you and Betty join me at riverdale's homecoming?" Jughead glanced away nervously. "I mean Toni's already going with Cheryl and me and Veronica broke up so it would be nice to go with friends!" He quickly added when he noticed Jughead's reaction. Archie smiled nervously.
"Yeah, Sure! Why not?" Jughead decided. Archie felt immediate relief. "So, you and Veronica broke up? Hope that didn't have anything to do with us." Jughead took a sip of his beer. Archie gave him a questioning look.
"Us?"
"Me and Betty." Jughead said as if it was the easiest thing to understand.
"Oh! No! Not at all. We just weren't meant to be." Archie finished his beer and stood up. "Well, then I'll see you next Friday."
"I'll tell Betty. Have a safe drive home!" Jughead motioned to some Southsiders outside, eyeing the car maliciously. Archie quickly drove away before hitting himself on the head with the wheel.
"Stupid!" He cursed. "Why would you invite them to homecoming?! It's not like you have a crush on either and that's where you take crushes!" Archie suddenly froze. Homecoming's where you take your crush and he just invited Jughead Jones.

Also no the wink was not about her and Jughead, Jughead and someone else, and if you haven't caught on, you're clearly oblivious.
