Really long chapter here. I was going to make this one whole chapter, but it ended up being way too long.ENJOY!
Marinette's POV
I was so excited for this party. TODAY'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!!! Alya literally bombarded me with gifts, and everyone was super nice to me, and Chloe even left me alone for once! BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT EVEEER!!! And tonight was going to be even better.
It would be just Adrien and I, dancing the night away. For once, he would come to me, and only me, without having any meetings or girls to run off to. It would be only me.
As far as the dress went, I wanted a little something to stand out. Alya and Finesse were pairing up as Spring and Fall, which I thought was a cute idea. Chloe was a butterfly.
I decided to go along with something different. Adrien had mentioned that kids dressed up as monsters. That would go well, but I would still look beautiful.
Anne, Mary, and Lucy did a wondrous job of creating a purple and black outfit that would look gorgeous on me, with my navy hair. They called it, "a midnight fright." (Mari's dress is above)
I changed into it, and I'm not really the arrogant type, but I really did look beautiful. Nathanael escorted down to the ballroom, and he whispered to me, "You look spectacular, m'lady."
I smiled. "My maids are the ones to praise."
He looked at me with a perplexed expression. "You really do love your maids, do you?"
I nodded. "I have everything and so much more to owe to them."
I entered the ballroom, only for Alya to pull me off quickly. "You look amazing!" She hugged me. "Happy birthday, Marinette."
"Alya, I can't count how many times you've said that today." I returned the hug, pleased that she was so happy.
"But it's never enough." She looked at me with a flicker of mischief in her eye. "So you ready to party with your Prince Charming?"
I squinted. "Who— ahh, you mean Adrien. Trust me, he's not my Prince Charming."
She took a wine glass from the table next to us. "I suppose," she took a sip. "He's only Prince Charming to the one he loves."
I shot my head back to her, my hands clenched, and my back straight. "Who does he love?"
Within a second of what I said, I noticed that him loving someone else sent me into a rage. "You sly fox." I hissed at Alya, who was hiding her smile behind her drink. She laughed it off. Then a guard came to her, and asked her for a dance. "Gotta go," She said.
I walked around, looking for Adrien. I was expecting him to be looking for me as well. But I was surprised to find him dancing with Chloe. I was about to get angry, but the way he looked..
Chloe had literally draped herself over him, squished her body up against him, and he was so hesitant to even touch her. He looked so uncomfortable. I couldn't help but giggle.
Pretty soon, Nathanael came over. "Miss, may I have this dance."
I nodded. "You may, sir."
He swept me across the floor. "It's been a long time since we've been able to do this so freely."
I smiled a little. "Sneaking over to the treehouse was much easier than sneaking around the palace."
He chuckled. "Even so, things were different around that time." His expression saddened.
"Very different." I agreed.
"So, where's the prince? I expected him to pick you up as soon as you entered." He said.
I sighed. "Me too. But he has duties that come first. And stupid girls."
He lifted my chin up, making me look at him. "Mari, you need to know that anyone to put anything before love is the stupid one."
I grinned playfully. "You tried to put some caste before me."
Nathanael returned the grin. "And that, is exactly how I know."
I laughed, as he twirled me around and extended his hand, but then a bright blue and green beast came over and knocked our hands apart. A blonde one.
"Oops, I'm so sorry." Chloe giggled. "But, Lady Marinette, I think your turns over." She waved her hand, as if saying goodbye. "Now, what's your name?" She said to Nathanael. ]
She read his nametag. "Nathanael Kurtzberg. Officer Kurtzberg. Is it okay if I call you Nathanael?" She twirled her hair.
"Of course, miss." He nodded. I wished he would say something, but I knew speaking back to her would cost him his job and much more.
"Great. Now stop wasting your time with miss trash over here, and get to know your future queen." She took his hand and led him to the center of the dance floor. As he was leaving, he mouthed. "I'm sorry."
I gave him a weak smile, and wrapped one hand over the other. Then I realized that if Chloe was here, that meant Adrien wasn't with her. I walked around, and I finally found him.
We made eye contact, and he smiled. Then he made his way over to Finesse, and offered her a dance. She acted like she one the lottery.
She draped herself over him, not the way Chloe had. She still looked so graceful, so poised. She fit perfectly up against him, and with his bright prince clothing, and her beautiful spring gown, they looked like a perfect pair.
And Adrien looked so peaceful, it annoyed me. He had his head rested on hers, which was on his chest. He kept his arms around her waste firm, as if protecting her. A slow song began to play, and they danced perfectly to the rhythm.
Everything seemed just so romantic, it made me want to scream. The spotlight shined on them, as everyone stopped what they were doing for them. I heard people whispering things like
"They make a perfect couple."
"He's gonna pick her for sure."
"They're so in love."
"She would make a better bride than any of the others."
Finesse finally pulled apart from him, but know she just made things worse. She kept her hand on his cheek, and began to lean in.
This chapter was so long! I was originally going to put it and the next chapter as one chapter, but it ended up being way too long. More than 1000 words. Wow.
Will try to update soon,BYE!!!!!!
