Sorry I keep choosing dresses for Mari. Sorry if that annoys you for some reason (idk why). Let me know if I should stop. But I take pleasure in dressing Mari up. Mari's dress is above.
Marinette's POV
I woke up in the best mood I had for days. I greeted my maids, but they seemed really busy...making a dress? I had no events plannned today?
"Good morning, Mary, Anne, Lucy." I said. "What are you doing? A dress? But I have no events today?"
"Oh..." Anne said. "Well, Miss, something came up...last night."
"Oh." I said, taking a sip of my tea. "Why black? Black is such a dreary color. Why not something with a little more excitement? Green? Pink? Yellow, perhaps?"
"It's the requirements, Miss." Mary said. Was it just me or did everyone seem sad? Why did they choose black? I detest black. Black does nothing but remind me of sad times in my life. It was just so...dreary, dull, and...
Dead. Someone was dead. No,no,no. Who was it? The king? Adrien? Silvia? No matter how much I detested a person I always mourned their death.
"Who?" I choked out. "Who has died?"
Lucy squinted. "What?"
"Who has died today? That's the only use of this color, if someone has died. Who? You can't lie to me, just tell me."
Lucy rested a hand on my shoulder. "Be thankful, Miss. No one has died today, nor will they."
*Time skip*
I was brought with the rest of the girls, all but Alya. They were dressed similarly. Wearing simple black gowns.
I came up to Finesse. "Do you know what's happening?"
Finesse glared at me. I guess she was still mad about yesterday. "Yes." She answered stiffly. "And you won't want to know about it."
I sighed. A guard came over to us, counting us. "They're all here!" He yelled to another.
Wait, no. We weren't all here. Alya wasn't. Had she been sent home? No, she would have come to my room to say goodbye.
"Wait, sir." I called, meaning to tell him about Alya. But finesse grabbed my hand and simply shook her head. What did she mean?
The massive door opened, and we were lead into the throne room. The Selected got special seats, to the right of the stage, while th royal family sat on the opposing side.
Everyone looked sober. Adrien's face was stiff, and the king had flames in his eyes.
Finally, the loud crash of a bell was heard, meaning whatever was going on would start. Finesse squeezed my hand. "Prepare yourself." She commanded me. I nodded, still not sure what she meant.
Then, my heart stopped as two figures in chains were hauled up onto the stage. Alya, And Nino. Alya's beautiful fall gown was torn and dirty, and now she looked like a patch of autumn dirt on the ground. Nino's uniform was now close to worthless.
"Miss Cesaire!" A man on the stage bellowed. "You were a favorite among all of us! We trusted you, welcomed you into our home! We were prepared to allow you to sit on the throne in which many great women have done before you! We were prepared to let you rule us! And you betray us this way?"
Betray? No, sweet Alya would never betray anyone. alya's reaction made my heart shatter into a million pieces. "I have done nothing wrong." She hissed, her voice seemed so meek and powerless now.
"And Mr. Lahiffe." The man turned to Nino. "You are-were, a trusted member of our family. You have been given the chance that many don't have. You were taken away from your state as a six and made a two...by us. And this is how you repay us?"
If looks could kill, Nino's would have done much worse. How could I sit and watch while my best friend was torchered? How could anyone?
"No..." I muttered, tears welling up. "No."
The man rose his staff. " These two were caught by the cameras last night, having an intimate moment. This is an act of treason. Not only to the country, but to us!!! This is an act punishable by death"
The crowd roared in agreement. I felt betrayed. My best friend was going to die today. Lucy had promised no one would die.
"I think I'm going to be sick," Chloe moaned in Finesse's shoulder.
"But thank the gods, our beloved prince has taken pity on these treacherous souls. Instead if death, we shall be entertained in other way, my friends, caning!!!!!" (Sorry for the overuse of exclamation marks😅)
Entertainment? Is this what they thought this was? The tears were replaced with anger. My nails dug into my palms! Finesse stroked them trying to calm me. But it was useless. "Shh," She said over and over again.
But what was caning? I had never heard of it. But the crowd seemed to like it. The fear in alya's eyes were clear.
Then, a huge club-like thing appeared. It looked extremely heavy, and it would destroy anything. I wondered what it was used for.
I got my answer soon enough.
Alya's cries would haunt my nightmares forever. The club swung at her beautiful hands, crushing them like bugs. Her screams seemed like a whisper of a ghost in the night.
"It'll..be okay Alya." Nino said.
Again, this time, at nino's backside. His skin ripped open, as blood trickled down his back. I doubt he would be able to walk again after this.
My breathing became intense. "Alya!" I screamed. "Alya!" But I knew she wouldn't hear me. The guard beside me said, "Miss, you must be quiet."
"Shh," Finesse soothed me. "It'll be over soon."
"No," I said. "No, it won't. No one should have to go through this."
"But she-" Finesse said.
"She fell in love!" I yelled. "And she's suffering because of it!" I stood up. "If no one is going to help her, I will."
My guard glared. "Miss, I will tell you one last time. Behave like a lady. Sit down." He reached for my arm, but I slapped his hands away. He grabbed me by the waist, but I struggled against him, using my long nails.
He released me, and I fled to Alya. But I constantly stumbled and tripped over the split ends of my dress. Now everyone was looking at me.
"Alya!!!" I cried. "I'm coming!" But I couldn't manage to climb the stairs to the stage. My heels prevented me. My guard caught up with me, and took me to my room.
"That's no way to behave!" He instructed.
"Get your filthy hands off me!" I shouted.
I thrashed and screamed all the way back. I cried into my pillow and yelled at everything I saw.
"Oh, my Lady." Anne came to me.
"Get away!" I hissed. "Get the hell out of my room!!!"
My maids, frightened, obeyed. I cried myself to sleep that day. I had hit another dead end.
Hellloooo! Hope you like this chapter! Some djwifi, not really, though. Bye.
