Marinette's POV

Just as us three were finished embracing, Adrien showed up.

"Ladies," he greeted, "I noticed your absence at the party."

"Yeah," Finesse responsded. "I guess all of us were feeling a little bit down."

"Hmm," Adrien said. "Well, I hope you feel better. You can speak to me any time you like. For now, though, I would like to speak to Lady Marinette."

A look of rejection passed upon Finesse's face as Adrien grabbed my eblow and dragged me around a corner.

"I'm sorry," he began even before I had time to catch my breath. "I'm sorry for Lila. Father couldn't resist the Italians offer. I couldn't do anything. I didn't do anything-"

"Shh, Adrien." I put a finger to his lips. "It's fine. Don't worry. I understand."

He blinked, surprised. "You do?"

"Yeah," I gave him a small smile.

He fell to his knees, which surprised me. "I should have proposed to you at the Halloween ball. Then everything would be fine."

"That's most probably not true." I said. "We always come up with something to bicker about."

He smiled. "We do, don't we?"

I pulled him up to his full height, and intertwined my fingers with his. "Don't worry about me."I whispered. "I'll be fine. I won't let her get to me again. I  know you better than I did then."

"I'm not worried about you," he leaned forward, touching our foreheads. "I'm worried about us."

I had nothing to say to that. We stood in that comforting position for a long while, enjoying what we had. For as long as it would last.

(I'm so sad. Isn't this just so sweet? 😞)

*Time skip*

My presentation for tomorrow night was almost ready. The only thing I felt was missing was evidence. Backup. But I knew where to get that from.

I dismissed my maid, telling them not to come back for an hour or so. I didn't tell anyone about my project idea, simply saying it was a surprise.

I flipped open the pages of the book, opening up into a new world:

October 25, 2223

The provinces have been divided for a while now. The people remain joyful, but I see better. This land is dying. All the provinces: Ladybug, Chat Noir, Volpina, Rena Rouge, and Queen Bee shall perish soon. If only someone could control them, someone keep all the disputes and rebellions at bay.

I shall be that person. With my newfound abilities, it shall be easy.

Newfound abilities? Did he mean superhuman powers? I flipped further into the book, until I found exactly what I was looking for.

September 10, 2224

Ruling the provinces is not easy. In fact, the rebellions have increased more and more. I need to keep them at bay somehow. If someone could cut off their main source provider, then they wouldn't be able to do anything.

I know my subject will not be happy to here this, but in order to maintain power, I must do it.

I have established a caste system for the kingdom.

I was right. Most people hated the idea of castes. But I had suspected this, and I have a way to deal with it. All the rebels need is a little...persuasion. I like to call my kind execution.

This was it! The castes were basically forced upon people! No one can argue with this! I was ready. My presentation was ready for tomorrow.
