Marinette's POV
Both Chloe and my injuries were minimal, so we were sent off within an hour. They sent us off at different timings to avoid communication between us, which was a smart thing to do. Silvia told me that Finesse and Adrien were out in the gardens, and that we were more than welcome to join them.
I bet Finesse was enjoying her little alone time with Adrien. Dare I say she was thankful of my outburst.
When I entered the garden, Finesse rushed up to me and hugged me as if I was her best friend. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" She sounded genuinely concerned, but I wondered how much of this show was for Adrien.
"I'm fine. Our injuries were minimal." I smiled, playing along with her game. Suddenly, we heard a high-pitched shriek that shook us off.
"Adrikins!!!! I'm baaaaack!" Chloe yelled, swinging her arms around his neck. I could have been annoyed that she was here to, but I couldn't help but laugh at how awkwardly they were positioned.
Finesse looked like she could drive a knife down Chloe's throat. (That's how I looked when Chloe interrupted Marinette's and Adrien's kiss in the episode Horrificator. :) )
"Speak of the devil." I said. Finesse nodded as Chloe dragged Adrien off somewhere. As Adrien was leaving, Adrien turned around and mouthed. Sorry.
Finesse fake smiled and waved it off. She turned to me. "So, I've been meaning to talk to you for a while." She said.
I shifted Uncomfortably. "Yeah?"
She began to walk, and I followed along. "I've been thinking of the right time to say this, but it never came."
"Cut to the chase Finesse." I said, a little rudely.
She sighed. "I think you and I are sort of neck and neck at this point. I mean, it used to be you, and you only, but now..."
I felt conflicted. Is this really how she felt? Was this true? Was Adrien's feelings for both of us the same?
"Okay..." I gulped. "What do you want to talk about? Are you going to try to put me down?"
"No! No! I would never do that! What I'm trying to say is that I want to be honest with each other. I want to win with honesty, but I also want-"
She was cut off with a gunshot. A few more. "Rebels!" A guard called. "Rebels!"
Chloe draped herself over Adrien, who scooped her up as if she weighed nothing at all. He handed her off to the nearest guard, who happened to be Nathanael. "Run!" He screamed. "Run!"
Finesse's eyes darted around, scrounging out the best place to run. She saw Silvia run off, and she followed her. That was probably the best place to go.
I was about to follow her, when a guard ran in front of me, blocking me from running. I turned, only to run into another guard.
I needed to move. The guards were in their battle postitions, and I was in the middle of it. Adrien couldn't help me, as he was being dragged off by his father.
"Marinette!" He yelled. "Marinette, come back! Cease fire! Stop shooting! Stop, you'll hit her!"
Adrien continued to scream his orders, but I realized I only had only one way to go. East. But that would lead me to the Great Forest.
I bolted, carrying the frills of my dress. I ran for a long time after, knowing the rebels were close behind. My dress was sticking ot my chest, and the flats I was wearing didn't increase my speed. I considered taking them off, but I realized running without shoes in the forest was worse than flats.
I heard the voices of the rebels close behind, and I prayed they wouldn't see the bright dress in the dim woods. My only option was to hide.
I gripped the branch of a tree tightly as I pulled myself up. I had climbed a tree many times back home, but the pampering I experienced in the palace made me rusty. Still, I tried my best.
I pressed my back firmly against the tree as I heard two voices. They were hushed and quiet, as if containing information that must not be known. After a while, all was quiet as I heard retreating footsteps.
I peeked around the trunk to see a blonde girl with a pile of books in her hand. Suddenly, a branch under me snapped under my weight.
She whipped her head around, her green eyes shining. When she caught sight of me, the strangest thing happened. She giggled and curtsied. She didn't look deadly or threatening at all.
"Lucy," She saluted me. "It's an honor."
I didn't move, even after she scampered off into the woods. My breathing slowed, and at last I came to peace.
Guards found me soon after, and my the small scratches on my legs were tended to. I was out of the hospital in a few minutes.
Adrien hadn't come to see me. No one had. I sighed as I trudged back to my room. That's when I realized none of the halls or corridors were familiar.
I was lost.
