Miraculous Selection

A New Piece to This Puzzle

Marinette's POV

Nathanael's back. Nathanael's here. Nathanael wants you. The words echoed in my head. I cannot tell you how hard it was to sleep that night. Finally, when I had finally began to doze off, my maids rushed into the room.

"My lady!" They yelled. "Up! You must get up? Where are your shoes?"

"Shoes?" I mumbled sleepily. "I think they're behind that counter."  

My maids rushed over to me, pulled me off my bed and pushed me out the door. "What? What's happening?"

"The rebels." Anne, one of my maids trembled as she spoke.

The rebels. As a five, I had almost no information about the rebels. They just were, rebels. They rebelled against the king and queen, and any other rulers. Even Two had beeen killed as a result of their attacks. I hear that they were deadly, and they were getting stronger by the minute. I hadn't any reason to worry before this. 

My maids pushed me forward slightly. "Go!" They said.

"But-What about you?" 

"We...have our own places to go." Mary said quietly. I knew that was a lie. Mary was a horrible liar. It was obvious what was happening. They were going to die. If not, captured. I took their hands, and pulled them forward.

"Come." I instructed.

"Wha-miss! Where are we going?" Lucy said.

"With me."

"To the hiding location? Miss, they won't let us in!" Anne begged, trembling with fear.

I ingnored every pleading word they said. It's as if they thought dying was an option. 

As I reached the entrance to the hiding spot, the guard stopped me. "Miss, thank you for delivering these ladies. I'll taking them now."

"No." I said, probably too loud. "They're coming with me."

The guard's face remained stone. "Miss, they have ther duties to perform."

"Their only duty is to me. And I say they are coming with me." I hissed.

The guard growled, but let me in. The Queen's assisstant scurried over to me. I'd seen her quite often, her name was Silvia. 

"Good, some help." She clicked her pen. "Tell the girls to serve drinks to the king and queen, and to the rest of the Selected."

"No." I said, again, too loudly. I turned to Mary and Lucy. "You two, please serve the king and queen. For the Selected, they can serve themselves as long as I care. They chose to leave their maids to die, but they can't use mine. Come on, ladies." I didn't give time for Silvia to answer. 

As Mary and Lucy obeyed, I dragged Anne to a corner. "You okay?"

She nodded, still scared. I looked at the other girls, to see what they were feeling. Suddenly, the chills took over me. I hadn't been truly scared until now. I could see that the others felt the same. Adrien came over to each one of us, comforting us. 

I turned away as he walked to Finesse. She acted like a sad puppy. Shut up, Marinette! When did you start hating Finesse so much? She's so sweet, and has been nothing but kind to you. Don't let jealousy turn you into a Lila.

Adrien finally came up to me. "Are you alright?" He said. I nodded , not looking him in the eye. It seemed he wished to say more, but he couldn't because others were around..

"Are you alright?" He asked Anne. Anne, who seemed stunned by the acknowledgement, nodded   Ever so slightly. 

He sighed and returned to his seat next to his parents. A guard whisked in, and he caught my eye. Red hair. Nathanael. 

He turned away from me as if I was a stranger to him, and made his way to the king. "Your Highness." He bowed.

"Report." The king said, folding his paper. 

"They were Southerners, Your Majesty." Nathanael said. Southerners? What   Did that mean??

"How much damage?" The king said, letting out a long sigh. 

Nathanael cleared his throat. "A couple of guards and staff were lost, and a few artifacts around the palace were stolen, and rooms were made a wreck." It was clear how much it hurt him to be staying this.

The king was silent for a while, then nodded. "Dismissed." He said to Nathanael. He bowed again and left, mouthing to me, as he left. "Your room, tomorrow night."

I didn't have a chance to tell him no.

YASS!!!!!! two chapters in a day! YAY!!!!!

Just a little FYI, the first book of the Selection series is coming to an end. It will end in the next two or three chapters. Don't be confused, this Fanfic is barely a third through, but it's just the end of the first book in the Selected series.

I tried to summarize the first book as well as possible, i'm So sorry if I missed or I didn't include some parts that you liked in the books. I'm trying to do my best.
