Henry and I sat at the counter in Granny's Diner. We were both doing our algebra homework with our hot chocolates sitting on the bar beside of us. Henry was working away while I stared down at the problem with confusion. I glanced over to Henry, "What problem are you on?" I asked him.
"Uh, fifteen," He replied, not looking up from the paper. "You?"
"I've been on problem one since we got here," I told him. He stopped what he was doing and looked over at me with an amused expression. "What?" Henry shook his head with a smile, "You know that I'm bad at math!"
"You want some help?" He inquired.
I nodded, "Yes, please." Henry started to help me and slowly we finally both got to the last question. Before Henry could say anything more, a stack of comic books was placed on the counter.
We turned to see Regina sitting down beside of us, "I didn't know which ones either of you were reading these days."
Henry smiled while I flipped through one of the comic books, "These are awesome. Much better than algebra. Thanks," Regina chuckled while Henry shook his head, "But you didn't have to do this."
I quickly put my hand on Henry's shoulder, "It's not polite to reject a gift... But if you don't want them then I will take them." The two laughed at my statement.
"Well, I wanted to,"Regina stated and her face dropped. "But don't get used to it," The three of us laughed and Henry and I looked at the comic book I was holding. Regina grabbed the other one and looked through it, "Isn't it funny how these are just ink and paper but everything in your storybook is real? Makes you wonder who wrote it, doesn't it?"
I turned to her, "You mean the storybook, right?" Regina hummed.
"No one knows." Henry informed her.
Regina placed the comic book down on the counter, "Oh, come on. You're both such an expert on all this. You guys have read it cover to cover. There's nothing in the book that gives... Even a clue?"
Henry must've sensed her interest was a little suspicious too because he asked, "What are you up to?"
Regina scoffed momentarily and then sighed, "These stories about me in the book, I was written as a villain. And things never work out for the villain, so I... Want to find who wrote this book and make them... Ask them... To write me a happy ending. Is that crazy?"
I grabbed Regina's hand with a smile, "That's not crazy at all." I probably would've done the same if I was in her position. I have been a villain once, but I don't exactly know what happened there. It was like something inside of me snapped... But Wonderland does do that to people. Especially if you're out on your own. Me... doing what I did must've snapped me out of it.
