CHARLOTTE WAS SITTING with Elena at the Mystic Grill, enjoying lunch with her close friend. She and Elena have formed a rather close-knit bond over the few months that they've known each other, becoming almost inseparable. She was looking at the
book Elena was reading when suddenly they felt a presence at the table, and gasped loudly when they saw the raven-haired Salvatore sitting there.

"What do you want?" Elena asked Damon, trying to be passive with him. Charlotte and Elena had been talking, especially about Damon. Elena vowed that she was done with Damon, and Charlotte only nodded along the entire time. It's ironic how just as they finished that conversation, Damon Salvatore — speaking of the devil — had shown up.

"So, this is where you spend your time when you're not stabbing people in the back," Damon retorted, looking around the bar he had been in many times before. This wasn't anything new.

"Shut up, Damon," Charlotte said to him, her eyes narrowed. She's grown quite defensive over her brunette friend, and she wouldn't let Damon or anyone for that matter make Elena feel bad about herself.

"I tricked you into telling me the truth, that's not stabbing you in the back, it's using your own tactics against you," Elena explained, clicking her pen shut as she grabbed her stuff to leave, standing up. Charlotte didn't follow.

"Where are you going?" Damon asked, emphasizing the "you".

"I made myself clear, Damon. I want nothing to do with you," Elena calmly yet still aggressively shot back at him, while walking away.

"Okay. See you at Jenna's barbecue," Damon called out, taking a chip and chomping on it. He was waiting. Damon knew that would catch Elena's attention, as he sat there smirking. What a smug ass he could be sometimes.

"How did you know about Jenna's barbecue?" Elena asked inquisitively. Now she was curious.

"It was my idea. Jenna went to high school with Mason Lockwood so I figured a social gathering would be a good way to get to know the guy," Damon explained, turning around to face the purple-shirted Gilbert girl. "So I told Ric to tell Jenna and..."

"Does Jenna know that you're going to be there? Because she's not exactly a fan of yours," Elena admitted, causing Charlotte to chuckle to herself. Damon sent her an annoyed look, but that only amused her more.

A waitress arrived with a pie box, but Damon doesn't eat pie. Charlotte caught onto that the moment he took the box. That certainly wasn't all for him... It had to be for the barbecue.

"Perfect. Thank you," Damon thanked the waitress, speaking to the girls again, "I'm hoping this peach cobbler will pave the way."
