I WAS WONDERING why my father had turned so bad so suddenly. And me being the very curious person I was, I started researching. Reading books. Yes, actual books. You know I'm serious about something when I start reading. I found something in one of the books called Ténèbres, it's a disease. It's origins are unknown, and nobody knows how to acquire this disease. All we know is that it takes a good heart, and darkens it. It makes someone that was pure become bad. Like my father.
I was wondering why he was acting this way. Why the amazing, kind man that I once knew was trying to bring out my Inner Cheshire. His heart was darkened by this disease, but as I read further I saw that there was a cure that a coven of witches had prepared for this very sickness. I smiled as I read on, finally finding some hope that my father would be okay. I had to go visit these witches! I had to see this cure for myself. I needed my father back. It was like this bad personality possessed him, but he was still him. Maybe he's in there somewhere?

I called a group meeting. Well, technically, I told Charlotte to call a group meeting and she did. It was me, Damon, Stefan, Charlotte, Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie. The usual group of people, basically. I started off since I was the one who called the meeting. "I think I have found what is causing my father to act this way. There is a disease, and it's called Ténèbres. It's French for "Darkness", and I found it during my research over my father and the way he's acting. I also found that if not cured, will eventually become fatal. I can't let him die, I can't lose my dad again. I can't go through that pain again knowing that this time he'll be actually dead..."
"Aria—" Charlotte started, trying to explain something to me. But I could tell from her tone that she was trying to argue a different point, the point that isn't mine.
"Don't 'Aria' me, Charlotte," I said, standing up from the couch. I had been sitting across from the girls and between the boys. "I am not going to lose my father again. I won't allow it!" I said to her.
"I understand," Charlotte said softly, "I would do anything to have my father back, too. But that book you're reading isn't exactly reliable—"
"I don't care. I'm still going to try it," I said defiantly, crossing my arms. I was still standing and everyone was looking straight at us. Stefan took my hand and made me sit back down beside them, but I didn't. Instead I said, "Fine. You don't wanna help me? I'll just do it by myself. I've always had to do things on my own anyway."
I grabbed my coat as I heard their responses. They were all the parent sort of replies. You know, when you say you're gonna run away. They all went "Fine! Go ahead. Don't come running back when it doesn't work out." Pfff, as if that matters to me. I ran away from my actual family a few times, this wont stop me from running away from them.
They were all shocked when I went out the door and used my magic to appear at the town the book said the coven of witches lived in. They didn't think I'd go, and they obviously didn't think I'd use my magic. But I was serious about this, and I needed this sickness cured.
I saw the home sitting on the grass. The same home it showed in the book. The coven's home. I walked up to it and knocked on it three times, boldly and loudly. I heard a few whispers, some yells, and finally the door opened to reveal a dark skinned, dark haired woman. Her hair was long and curly, and she was younger than I expected. "Is this the... Everwood Coven?" I asked her.
"Yes we are, darling. What can we do for ya?" The woman proudly asked, a southern twang to her accent. Apparently they must not get many visitors... That was a little too open.
"I need to know more about this," I explained, opening the book to show her the cure. "Matter of fact, I need it. My father has this disease, this Darkness disease. And I need this cure to get him back," I said.
"Come in, sweetheart," The woman said, her smile having fallen at that. She took my hand gently and lead me in there. I walked behind her, knowing I could easily use my more powerful magic to leave if anything were to happen. "Emaline! Cassandra!" The woman called, as two other witches appeared out of nowhere. This must be the full coven. Cassandra was a latina, with lovely caramel colored skin and dark brown hair. Emaline was caucasian, with very light blonde hair, and eyes as blue as the sea.
"Yes, Kayna?" Emaline had asked, before turning to see me. The odd purple-haired girl. "Ooh, a visitor," she said with a smile. "Those are rare. And this one... This one's special. I sense... Power," she said, before grabbing my hand. I tried to move my hand but when she loosened her grip and closed her eyes, I saw that she wasn't a threat. "Magic," Emaline whispered, her eyes opening and widening, "She has magic that is not of our world."
Kayna — the one who had answered the door — nodded. "Yes, this is true. But we have a problem with this little witch. Her father has the Darkness curse," she said, and the other two girls gasped.
"The Darkness curse?" Cassandra asked, her eyes wide. "I thought that curse was... Well, long gone," she said softly, as the other two nodded.
Kayna spoke again, "So did I. But it appears her father has the curse. And she read that storybook that said we have the cure."
"Why are you talking like you don't have it?" I asked worriedly. All three witches turned to me with a sad look on their faces. Why... Why were they giving me sad looks? Why were they acting this way? "What're those looks for? They don't look good..."
"That's because they aren't, sweetheart. You see, we were forced to write that years ago. Before you were even born. If we didn't write it we were going to be executed. The king insisted that we write that there was a cure because he thought writing it would make it real. But in truth, that king later died. We didn't have the cure, and we couldn't find it either. Before he died, he cursed my sisters and I. We are eternally immortal, can't be killed and can't kill each other. We are forced to stay on this property for the rest of our immortal lives, dealing with each other and living a boring, secluded life," Kayna explained.
"We're so sorry we can't help you more," Cassandra said, running a hand through my purple hair. I just moved away from her, pulling her hand away. I didn't say anything, just opened the door and left the house, my eyes welling with tears that I would not let spill. I will not cry. I have been through so much worse than this, and I won't cry over it. I was more angry than sad. Angry they lied. Angry they wrote that book, even if they had. Angry at the book itself for making me believe those lies.
Charlotte was right. I shouldn't have done this.
I used my magic to appear at the Salvatore House, where everyone was there. Even Matt and the Sheriff. They must've had a search party out for me or something. "Hey, it's okay. I'm here!" I called, getting everyone's attention. Charlotte was the first to hug me, but also the first to scold me. Then Caroline, then Stefan, then Damon, then Bonnie, and finally Matt.
However, they all looked at me after all the hugs and saw the devastated look on my face. "What's wrong?" Charlotte asked me, and I took her and Damon's hands and lead them upstairs. I explained everything to them about the coven, and what they said, explaining that there was no hope. There was no cure for my father... That's when they made an idea for me to be able to say goodbye, my final one. Because I also explained... I don't want this darkness to overtake him completely. I don't want him to die, or take his own life. I want to be the one to end his misery, it might give me some closure to be the one doing it...
