Lana's POV

"Lana. This is Christopher, Hannah, James and Jesse." She points to the group of people in front of me. "This is Lana the new employee."

They all smile and wave except for one of them. His dark eyes just stared at me while the smirk on his face grew.

"Where did you find her?" he scoffs.

"Jesse, be nice." He rolls his eyes. "Hannah and Chris work in the kitchen, James works the cash register and Jesse and you will wait tables. Take a minute get to know each other and then get to work." Debra walks away.

"Maybe we should get together and get some coffee or something after work. That way we'll have more time to get to know you. Sound good?" Hannah asks. I nod. She smiles and walks into the kitchen with Chris on her heels.

"Here," Jesse tosses me a waitress apron. "I'm training you. Don't slow me down."

I don't how to react. I've just met this boy and I already hate him. Why is he so rude?

I follow him towards a table with a couple at it. "Hello. Welcome to Debra's Diner. What would you like to drink?"

Well at least he's nice to customers.

"I'd like a Dr. Pepper." The woman smiles.

"A coke." The man says while flipping through the menu.

Jesse turns to me. "A Dr. Pepper and a Come please."

I give a confused look. He rolls his eyes and turns toward the couple. They look at me strangely.

"Sorry. She's new. Today's her first day." They nod and continue to look through the menu.

Jesse grabs my wrist hard and drags to the soda fountain. "Cups are here." He points to the clear plastic cups, perfectly stacked on the counter. He points to the ice maker next to the cups. "There's the ice. Can you figure the rest out?"

I glare at him and take the order book and pen from his hands. He looks down at the items in my hands. "I can handle it." I say. He smirks and walks over to James.

"What are you doing?" James asks.

Jesses sits on the counter. "She said she could handle it."

I fix the drinks and give them to the couple. I take their order and walk to the kitchen. i explained to Hannah that since I'm not familiar with everything on the menu I did the best I could at writing stuff down.

"You did fine." She smiles at me warmly.

After lunch, I was exhausted. Lunch hour is very busy. Nearly all the tables were full and Jesse didn't even help me. He just sat behind the counter with a huge smirk on his face. It pissed me off.

I sit down at the table I just finished, when Jesse walks over to me. "Not bad for your first day."

I glared at him. "Yea. I did pretty good considering I didn't have any help."

He laughs. "You said you could handle it." He sits in the chair next to me.

"You're a jerk."

"How do you know that? You just met me today." He says with a look of mock hurt on his face.

"Well you don't make very good first impressions."

He scoffs and rolls his eyes. "Sorry I don't live up to your standards."

I turn to look at him. Is he being serious?

"My standards? You've been nothing but rude to me since I got here!"
