C H A P T E R 3

—nova's pov—

after 10 minutes, we got out of the cramped uber and headed towards the beach. it was nice to be in cold weather again, it was comfortable. the cool wind flows into my hair, i turn around to see a shivering zach.

'a little cold there zach?' you giggle

'a-a little i-is a-an u-understand-s-statement' he stuttered

'well that's what you get for wearing ripped jeans and a thin long sleeve' i poke at the small boy

i walk ahead of the group and take in the smell of the salty ocean, i close my eyes as i remember the times when dad and mom would take me to the beach one birthday. i feel a small tear fall down my cheek, i quickly wipe it away making sure the boys didn't see

—daniel's pov—

as nova hopped in front of the group, she pranced around and took in the ocean air. a few minutes later i saw her wipe away a fresh tear. we quickly catch up to her, i instantly join her side and look at her

'you alright?' i ask

'yeah, just reminds me of home' she smiles

to hide my blush, i just smile and nod my head. we all talk and get to know each other a little more.

'shoot, looks like my manager wants me to head back to my hotel now' nova says as she frowns at her phone

'oh before you go nova, do you want to watch us perform our last show tomorrow night?' jack asks

'hm, i'll check with my manager but i'll text you guys' she waves us goodbye as she runs to an awaiting uber.

'make a move tomorrow seavey, or else you're gonna lose her to someone else' jonah says as he pays my shoulder

just the fact of her being with someone else made my heart ache, then i thought to myself, does she really like me?

—nova's pov—

as i hopped into the uber, i kept thinking about daniel. a part of me begged me to stay with him, but the other part wanted me to do my job and create a successful career. i watched the boys grow smaller and smaller as the car drove off, i remember what jack had mentioned and quickly call my manager.

'why hello ms. everett' mr. kane exclaimed

'hello mr. kane, i just wanted to know if i am free tomorrow night' i ask

'here let me check' he says

after a couple minutes he finally begins talking again, 'well it looks like you're completely free tomorrow, why are you asking?'

'i wanted to see a couple of my friends perform at their last concert tomorrow' i smile

'oh, and which group is this?' he questions

'they're called why don't we' i say happily

'hm why don't we, of i've heard of this group before. my niece absolutely loves this group' he laughs

'you can go ms. everett, have fun and don't get into any trouble' he continues

'thank you mr. kane, and i won't!' i exclaim before hanging up

i hope out of my uber and walk up to my room.

i yawn as i look at the time once again, '12:56 am' i groan and roll in my bed. to pass the time i decide to check my phone, as i unlock my phone i see a text from daniel

daniel :)

rooftop? i cant sleep

sure, i can't sleep either

i'll meet you up there

quickly, i change into warmer clothes and head up to the roof. as expected, i open the door to see a figure standing.

'daniel?' i ask

the figure turns to reveal those sparkling blue eyes and that perfect smile

'hey star' his soft voice spoke

'hey ocean eyes' i reply as i walk next to him

we both sit down staring up at the stars once again, i shiver a little regretting not bringing that think jacket

'cold?' he chuckled

'yeah a little' i respond

he takes off his jacket and wraps my shoulders making sure to cover most of my body.

'aren't you gonna be cold?' i question

'not at all, i'm used to this weather back in portland' he smiles

'are you sure?'

'i'm sure nova, wear it or your gonna get a cold' he sternly says as i put on the jacket

as we stare off into the sky, i lean my head on his shoulder. i feel his head lean against mine, a hand slowly covers mine giving me warmth.

'so my manager said i can go to the concert tomorrow' i say

'really?!' daniel exclaims jumping from my spot

i arise from my sitting position, 'yeah, i get to see you guys perform and hang out for the day'

his bright smile gave me butterflies, 'i can't wait to tell the guys!' he smiles

he engulfs me in a hug, i hug him back as i laugh into his shoulder. as he let me go a part of me wanted to hug him back, but again we only just met and i don't want to be too clingy.

we once again sit down, he lays down on the ground, placing his arms behind his head. i lean my body on my arm and i turn towards him to admire his features. his cheeks were a shade of light pink, his nose a little red from the cold. his eyes glistened in the city lights, a smile tugged at his lips, his brown hair was flat, he was just perfect. he caught me staring and pulled me towards his body. he once again wrapped his arms around my body as i wrapped mine around his neck.

'i'm so freaking excited for tomorrow' he states

'i am too' i blush
