Chapter 4: Philippines

Matthew’s POV 

At NAIA, Terminal 3..

Hello again Philippines! It’s been a long time. Pagkalapag ng eroplano, suddenly, I felt like I am really home. Hmm. Maybe this won’t be a bad idea after all. What only sucks is the fact that I am going back to school. Haist. Aren’t I old enough for this?

“Mateo!!” I know that voice. Jeez.

“Kahit kelan boses palaka ka parin talaga.”

“Excuse me noh! Hindi kaya! OMG! Look at you! Hindi ka na gwapo!”  Meet Margaux. My one and only sibling. My younger sister.

“Oy! Anong di na gwapo? Hintayin mo lang kulit, babalik din sa dati to.”

“Oh, whatevs! Let’s go home. You, my brother need a lot of explaining to do. Oh, before we go home, can we drop by at the mall? There’s this dress I saw yesterday, and it’s beautiful! Just beautiful and I--”

“Margaux, hija. We still need to rest, may jetlag pa kami ng mama mo at yang kuya mo, nakasaklay pa. Why don’t you bring a couple of bodyguards with you later na lang?”

“But Dad—“

“Oo nga Kulit.”

“But I hate bringing tails with me!” Sinong bang may gusto sa bodyguards?  “Hmp! If you’re not going to go with me di bale na lang. Let’s go home na nga!”

Pagdating sa bahay, dumerecho agad ako sa kwarto. Medyo matagal bago ako makaakyat sa hagdan dahil na din sa saklay ko. Hmm. Somehow, I’ve come to realize that I really do miss this place. Tinignan kong ang buong kwarto, pagkatapos nahiga ako. It’s been 4 years at parang walang nabago sa kwarto ko, it’s still the same buhat ng umalis ako. Sandali, buti pa bulabugin ko muna ang tropa. Nag log-in ako sa facebook at nag post ng status.

Marami pang sumunod na comment pero tinatamad na ako sumagot, besides, magkikita-kita din kami sa pasukan. Haist. “SA PASUKAN”. Naiirita parin ako sa tuwing maalala kong babalik nanaman ako sa school.  Buti pa umidlip na lang muna.

“Mateo. Uy, Mateo. You need to wake up na. We’ll be having dinner na.” Si Margaux. Sabay sundot-sundot sa pisngi ko.

“Anu ba kulit. Let me sleep. Please.” Tumalikod ako sa kanya at itinakip ang unan sa ulo ko.

“But Mateo, this is the first time that we will be having dinner ng kumpleto dito sa bahay after 4 years. C’mon. You wake up na. Now na.” Sabay sundot-sundot sa likod ko naman.  Di ko na siya pinansin.

“Kuya Matt! Please! Sige na naman. You get up na!” Haist. Oo na. Nag-kuya na eh.  Kahit kelan talaga sentimental tong kapatid kong to. 

“Okay, okay! Getting up. Jeez.”  Tumayo na din ako, inabot ko yung saklay at bumaba sa dining room.

“Oh, hijo. Nakatulog ka ba? Sinabi ko naman dito ki Margaux na wag ka nang gisingin.” 

“No Mom, he needs to get up. Ngayon lang tayo na-kumpleto dito eh.” Ungot pa ni Margaux. Napailing na lang si Mom.

“By the way, Matt, I already arranged everything in your school. All you have to do is attend your classes and please don’t screw up son.  You need to prove samin ng Mom mo, na karapat-dapat na naming ipasa sayo ang kumpanya. We’re not getting any younger, you, my son is not getting any younger as well.” Naiintindihan ko naman yon. Ang di ko lang maintindihan ay kung bakit kelangn ko pang pumasok sa school. I mean, there’s ‘Home Schooling slash Tutoring’, pareho lang naman yun eh. Psh. -_-

Pero di na din ako nag-rason pa dahil kilala ko si Dad, pag sinabi nyang final. Final na talaga. Damn.

“Mateo, Mom said you will be visiting sa hospital tomorrow? They’re going to remove your cast already?” Tanong ni Margaux.

“Yeah.”

“Sooo, we can drop-by at the mall na. Right? Sige na naman Matt. Pretty please?”

“Whatever.”

“Yey! I just hope andun parin yung dress na gusto ko.”

“Andun pa yun. I’m finished. Pasok na ako sa kwarto Mom, Dad.  No knocking on my door Kulit ah. I want to rest.”

“Sure. No prob. Basta, tomorrow. Ok? Thankie brother!” 

Dumerecho na ako sa kwarto para makapag-freshen up muna bago matulog. Hay. Atleast, matatapos na din ang pagod ko sa kakagamit ng saklay. May kulani na ako sa kili-kili kakaipit nito eh. Plus, bawas pogi points to aba! Matapos makapaligo nahiga na ako. Di ko na namalayang nakatulog na pala ako.
