Today was the big day. My first day on an actual movie set filming an actual movie.

I sat in the makeup chair in front of a wall-length mirror with spotlights around it. The makeup artist, Hannah, was giving my face the finishing touches for the natural non-makeup my character had.

To add more edge to my character, the makeup team decided to dye my hair quite an unusual colour. I was now sporting dark purple hair which looked more like highlights. My mom didn't particularly like it, but it had to be done.

Since the film was taking place in an American school, I didn't have to wear a uniform

Since the film was taking place in an American school, I didn't have to wear a uniform. Instead, I had a cropped purple spaghetti top, ripped black jeans and a green jacket with laced black heeled boots.

The green coat complimented my purple hair really well. They made me look incredible but then again Marvel only uses the best makeup teams. Hannah moved away from my face and held her makeup brush in the air.

"You're done, sweetie," she announced.

"Thank you," I said, getting up from the makeup chair and stretching my legs.

My mom stood up from the corner of the trailer and followed me out of the door. She handed me a litre water bottle.

"Here, drink some of this," she said. "It's absolutely sweltering today."

She wasn't wrong. I've only been to America once, for the audition in California, but that was in February. Now, in late June with summer in full swing, it was well into the 30s and I was dripping sweat. I expected to see the hair dye and makeup dripping off me by the end of the day.

I took a swig of the water and handed it back to my mom. It was then that I realised she had an eye piece in her ear.

"Mom, why do you have an ear piece?"

"It's for communicating with the director," she said. "They can't shout across the lot when they need you on set, so they tell me in the ear piece."
