Birmingham International Airport

I curse whoever invented early morning flights. May they spend the rest of their days in Hell.

My dad dropped me and me mom off at the airport and now we're waiting to check in and get our boarding passes.

I'm stood in my black skinny jeans, grey t-shirt, green and white hoodie and Converse with my tanned leather backpack slung over my shoulders. My mom held our passports and other documents in her hands as the lady at the desk called us over. She smiled at us (how can she look so happy for 4:45 in the morning) and took the passports off my mom.

"Good morning. Where are you travelling to today?" The happy lady asked.

"Burbank, California," my mom replied. "We were told to get our boarding passes here."

"Oh, right," the lady scanned the passports and clicked the mouse to find our names. After a while, she looked away from the computer to address us. "Yes, here you are. You're on the 6:50am United Airlines flight to Burbank, and it looks like you've been upgraded to business class."

Business class? I've never been in business class before. I haven't even been in first class. Well, now I've woken up.

"Thank you very much," my mom thanked the lady.

We moved away from the desk and made our way to the escalators towards security. My mom gave me my boarding card and I stared at it in disbelief. Business class. Wow. If I don't get the role, at least I can say I've flown in business class.

"Look at us plebs flying in business class," my mom spoke up. "We're gonna stick out like a sore thumb."

I laughed. "Us commoners don't belong in business class."

We both laughed at the joke as we went through security and made it to duty free. Or as me and my dad call it, Mom's Achille's heal. While my mom was shopping, I went straight for the food. No matter how early it is, it's very too early for food. I ordered a cheese toaster and a cup of tea (again, I'm obsessed with tea) and sat down in the seating area. I ate the toastie quickly and sipped on my tea as I waited for my mom to come back. I had two hours to kill so I scrolled through Instagram and Twitter to pass the time.

Eventually, my mom came back with food, water and general bits for the trip. Our gate number was displayed on the screen and we made our way to the gate. Because of our first class tickets, we got on the plane first. We walked down the tunnel and waited for the crew to open the door. As we waited, I took a Snapchat and sent it to the group chat to let the girls know where I was.

The door opened and we were directed to our seats. This was the first time I was in first class so I felt like a fish out of water. But, oh my god. I want to live in this cabin. My mom and I had separate pods with a blanket, pillows, a television and a table for drinks. Everything a girl could want is on this plane.
