San Diego, CaliforniaComic Con is big. And I mean BIG.
The San Diego Comic Con was buzzing with energy and incredibly realistic costumes. Seriously, I couldn't tell the difference with some of the costumes.
I made my way through the crowds with my mom to get backstage for the reveal of the Spider-Man Homecoming poster. She kept asking me questions about the cosplay and honestly I couldn't answer her. I didn't know who the majority of these characters were. To be fair, I was just tired from flying out to California that day and having to fly back to Atlanta the same day.
We made it to the hall where they were hosting the panel. The security guards directed us to the room where the cast were congregating.
Inside the room was Jacob, Laura, Tony, Tom, Jon Watts, Amy Pascal and Keven Feige. I went around and said hello to everyone and my mom started talking to Amy. Tom pulled me in for a hug and I squeezed him slightly in greeting. Jacob was so excited he was literally bouncing off the walls but to be fair, so was I.
A woman with a headset came into the room and told us that they were ready for us. My mom and Amy went into the audience whilst the rest of us made our way to the stage.
The presenter welcomed the audience and introduced Kevin who took to the stage first. He introduced Tom to the stage and then Jon. They talked about filming only just starting so they had limited footage to show and Kevin said he was excited to introduce Spider-Man into the MCU. Jon talked about the difference between this Spider-Man and the previous Spider-Mans and how the film was a complete high school movie. Then, he introduced us.
"We've actually got some of the high school students here today," he said, turning towards the left of the stage where we were waiting.
"Yeah, let's get them out here," Kevin said.
Tony led the group out and I brought up the rear. Jon introduced all of us in order as we appeared. The bright lights blinded me slightly and I suddenly went weak at the knees. The crowd was much larger than I thought and the screams were deafening. My face went red and my palms started sweating. Stay calm, Ellen. Stay calm. You've got this.
The presenter asked how it felt being out here and I let the others answer. I was too scared to say anything incase I made a fool of myself.
The brief moment on stage was over and I couldn't get off the stage fast enough. I led the group back down the stairs and we went backstage. I took deep breaths and drank some water to calm myself down.
"Whoa, there were so many people there. That was insane!" Jacob said.
I nodded weakly. "Yeah, you're telling me. I was shaking so bad."
"Same! I was more concerned about not falling over," Laura giggled.
Kevin came over and placed a hand on mine and Laura's shoulders. He gave us a squeeze of encouragement.
"You guys were awesome. They loved you," he said. "I have a good feeling about this movie."
"Thank fuck for that," I muttered under my breath. Kevin must of heard because he started laughing.
"Anyway, keep up the good work and I'll see you guys soon," Kevin said his goodbyes and left the room.
Jon rubbed his hands together and gestured to the group. "Alright guys, back to work. Let's fly back to Atlanta."
A/N next chapter is a Tom and Ellen fluff moment.
