Chapter 17 Part 1

THE Bantayan Island was more beautiful in person than in pictures and articles describing it. The water was clear and the atmosphere was relaxing. Vince’s resort, the La Fabella Resort, was like a paradise and a very peaceful place. The sands were pure white and there were a lot of beautiful trees and plants everywhere. The cottages were modernly designed, also was the restaurant in the middle of that breathtaking resort. May mga guests din doon at nagpapaka-relax.
Pagkababa nila ng ferry boat ay lumapit agad sa kanya si Jessie, ang party coordinator ni Vince. She never thought of seeing her again after the party. Aside from her, kasama rin nila sina Daniel, Thaddeus at Jackie. Lumayo agad sina Daniel at Thaddeus at lumapit sa mga babaeng guests doon para makipag-kilala. Hindi niya na inintindi ang mga ito dahil nahagip ng mata niya ang pagpulupot ng kamay ni Jackie sa braso ni Jeremy.
“It’s beautiful here,” buong paghangang sabi ni Jessie at tumingin sa kanya. “What are you looking at?” tanong nito at sinundan ang tingin niya.
Nang ilipat niya ang tingin dito ay nakita niya ang biglaang pag-ngiti nito.
“So, you like Jeremy?” tanong nito.
“Bakit?” hindi niya maintindihan kung bakit natutuwa ito sa nalaman.
Muli nitong ibinalik ang tingin sa kanya. “I thought you like Vince, mabuti na lang pala at walang katugon ang nararamdaman niya para sa’yo.”
She smiled. “You really like Vince, huh?”
“I heard my name,” narinig nilang wika ni Vince nang makalapit ito sa kanila. Nakita niya nang mamula ang mukha ni Jessie at napayuko.
“It’s nothing,” sagot niya dito para mapag-takpan si Jessie. “I’m hungry, wala pa akong kinakain since breakfast. It’s already seven in the evening. Ang haba pala ng biyahe papunta dito.”
Napatawa si Vince at niyaya sila papunta sa loob ng restaurant. She never glanced at Jackie and Jeremy’s place, if they wanted to flirt around, bahala sila.
