y'all knew i would start with this first. fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood is an action fiction anime about two boys trying to acquire a philosopher's stone to retain their bodies back; but, there's something bubbling in the government and something disastrous is to come to the whole country. i highly recommend watching it and it's definitely an experience to anyone who decides to watch it.

disclaimer: i have never watched the anime but have read the manga, but since not everyone can get the manga as easily as watching the anime, i'll just be trusting that the anime is completely true to the manga and therefore will recommend it. orange is a sad emoTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER (and a romance) which talks about depression, mental illness, and suicide. it's about this high school girl named naho takamiya who receives a letter from her future self ten years from the future who requires her to do everything she regrets she couldn't do before because she was meek and timid. one of her biggest regrets is this: for not being able to save kakeru. i lOve it a LOT and if you like being sad (but not too sad) i recommend it wholeheartedly.
