Alicia and Luke were in Alicia's room. Alicia was lying down on her bed and Luke was sitting in her desk chair, staring off into space, until Luke broke the tense silence.
"Then who was the person who acted as me and called you?" Luke asked.
"For the hundredth time, I have no idea." Quiet again. "You know what? Let's go to the lab and see what Uncle Chase could find."
Alicia and Luke left the room and went down to the basement. When they got to the basement, the generations of the Davenport family were gathered in the middle of the room, looking at a screen.
"Uncle Chase, did you find anything about the person who acted as Luke and I?" Alicia asked Chase.
"We have not found anything but we're still trying," Chase said.
"Whoever this person is, knows how to hide themselves," Bree said.
"Got that right, Aunt Bree," Caty said.
"But where can we find them?" Janelle asked.
"We just have to look harder," Donald said.
"Whoever this person is, he or she might have our Jada," Leo Dooley said.
As if on cue, Alicia's phone rang. The caller ID said Janice. Alicia excused herself and went upstairs and to her room. Alicia made sure that no one was following her and locked her room door. Alicia answered her phone.
"Jada! Oh my god! I called you so many times. Why didn't you answer your phone?" I asked Jada over the phone.
"I'm sorry that I didn't answer your calls. I overslept," Jada answered.
"But you never oversleep. Are you okay?" Alicia asked.
There was dead silence and Jada was not saying anything. "Jada? Are you still there?"
"Um...y-y-yeah. I'm still here. Look Alicia, I can't talk right now. I'm really tired and in a lot of pain. I'll talk to you later, okay? Love you sis. Bye." Jada cut the call.
Alicia was starting to get worried. She didn't know why Jada was talking to her like she normally did. Alicia realized that Jada said that she was in pain and she decided to get to the bottom of this.
She unlocked her room and saw her cousin sisters standing outside.
"Were you both listening to everything?" Alicia asked them.
"How is she in pain?" Caty asked.
"I have no idea," Alicia replied.
"Plus two new abilities just got unlocked: super hearing and reading minds," Sophia said.
"Super hearing and reading minds? Only for you two?" Alicia asked.
"No. For all of us cousins, except our parents, thank god," Sophia said.
"They're really jealous about it, especially Uncle Adam," Caty said.
"That's expected from dad," Alicia said.
"But they're still happy for us. So, how can we find out what's wrong with Jada?" Sophia asked.
"Let me text her and tell her to meet us at the mall," Alicia said.
"Sounds good. Let's go," Caty said.
Alicia, Caty, and Sophia piled into Alicia's car and were on their way to the mall. By the time they got to the mall, Jada was sitting in the corner, with empty food plates around her. She had small band-aid on the side of her forehead and a bandage wrapped around her wrist. She then got up again, went to Subway, and ordered another sub. Within ten minutes, she got her sub and a bag of Lays chips, went back to the corner of the food court and started eating again.
The girls went over to Jada.
"Jada?"
Jada looked up and saw her cousin sisters. "Hey. I brought chairs for you. Do you guys want me to order something for you?" Jada asked them.
"No, we're fine. What happened to you?" Alicia asked.
"You look like you haven't eaten in weeks or months," Caty said.
"I just spent $60 dollars on only food," Jada said and took a swig of her water.
"Why? What happened to you?" Sophia asked.
"I was tortured by the person who kept me," Jada said.
"What? How?" Alicia asked.
"I can't tell you guys." Jada finished her water, chips and sub. "Ok now I'm full. I'm going to leave now."
Jada got up and threw away all the food containers and sub wrappers, and left.
"What's wrong with her?" Confused and innocent Sophia asked.
"Let's follow her," Alicia said.
"You do know that we can read minds, right?" Caty asked.
"I know. I tried it but all I could get was her admiring the food she was eating," Alicia said.
"Oh. Right, let's follow her."
The girls stealthily followed Jada in the car to a park.
"Out of all places, why a park? I was hoping she would go to a place where we can find out who her kidnapper is," Caty said.
"Same here," Sophia said.
Jada parked the car and got out of it. She sat on the curb in front of the car and started crying. Alicia started to read Jada's mind and was shocked as to what she heard Jada think about.
"Alicia, what did you see Jada's mind?" Caty asked.
"Something horrible," Alicia answered.
"What are you talking about?" Sophia asked.
"Look for yourself." Sophia and Caty read Jada's mind and was also shocked.
"Oh my god."
"We need to go back home and to Luke," Alicia said.
"But we can't leave Jada here alone," Sophia said.
"You're right. Let's go."
Alicia turned off the car and walked towards Jada. Jada looked up at them and was shocked to see them.
"You followed me here? Why?" Jada exclaimed.
"Jada, I know what you're hiding from us. We three can read minds now. It's a new ability that we just got. Jada, I can't believe that he did this to you. Why didn't you say anything?" Alicia asked.
Jada cried harder and hugged Alicia. Her sisters were comforting her and separated.
"He started doing this to me five months ago. It's horrible and I want it to be over, but I don't know how," Jada said.
"Don't worry we're going to do whatever we can to stop this. But by doing this, we need to tell the family that you're alive so that we can get you out together," Caty said.
"No that's not possible. If you tell them all, he will kill you all," Jada said.
"We would rather die saving you instead of dying not saving you. You're our sister, Jada and we love you. We have to tell the family that you're alive," Alicia said.
"They're right."
The girls looked to their right and saw Luke, Sean, Tyler, and Andre. Sean, Andre and Tyler recognized Jada and hugged her. They separated.
"We didn't want to believe it until we saw you," Andre said.
"I missed you so much. How are you feeling, Sean?" Jada said.
"Feeling better, but, Alicia's right. We have to tell the family that you're alive," Andre said.
"You've gone through enough. It's time for some action," Alicia said.
Jada thought about it for a while then, "Ok. You can tell the family that Jada Dooley Davenport is alive and ready to come home to them."
Finally! Jada is going to come home! But do you think it's going to be easy for her to come home? Keep reading This is Love.
