Luke Davenport
Thud.
Same sound. Over and over again.
Thud.
What the hell is going on and where is that sound coming from? Don't tell me Dad is trying to make tomato sauce again.
Wait, if he was making tomato sauce, there would've been a burnt smell. I felt something wet trickle down my nose and I slowly opened my eyes.
I wasn't sleeping on my bed. I was sleeping on a cot with a blanket on top of it and one on top of me. I looked down on the blanket that I was on top of and saw a red dot. I felt my nose, looked at my fingers and saw......blood?!
"Blood?" I was confused. What happened? Everything slowly came back to me. Surprise birthday, cake, and unconsciousness.
I sat up from the cot and looked around and was shocked to see who were on the floor: my father curled up in ball, injured and bruised.
I was shocked at the sight of my father on the floor with no support, no blanket or pillow to have him sleep. I got up from the cot and felt a sharp pain in my leg and collapsed back on the cot. I screamed out in pain and unfortunately, that woke him up. Dad immediately ran to my side.
"Luke! Are you okay, son?" Dad asked me.
"Dad, my leg is in pain," I whined.
"Luke, your leg is broken. You need to rest." I looked to my right and saw Uncle Chase with Tyler. To my left was Uncle Jack with Sean.
"Can someone tell me what happened and how we got here?" I asked them.
"Bro, you do know how we got here?" Sean asked me like I'm stupid. "That's why I'm asking. How did we get here and what happened?"
"I'll tell you what happened. Something was in the cake that made us all unconscious. Later on, we woke up and found ourselves in this cell. Three buff men came in each of our cell and started beating the crap out of us, and they wouldn't stop. Their boss wants us to suffer, but they mostly want us to see you suffer, Luke," Uncle Jack explained.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because their boss said that you have to pay for what you did with him/her," Dad finished.
"What did I do?"
"That's what we are wondering, Luke. What did you do?" Tyler asked me.
"I don't know, bro."
"Luke, try to remember. God forbid, was there a time where something happened because of you and you were threatened for it?" Uncle Chase asked me.
I tried to recall if anything of some sort happened but I couldn't remember anything. "I don't remember," I said.
"How is he going to remember? Best to hear it from me."
I looked ahead and saw a middle aged man with slick hair and was in a suit. He had two men walking behind him and they were also in suit, but with glasses on.
If I can see, there's no sun shining in the cell.
"Who are you?" Dad asked the buff guy.
"I am Santiago Cage," He introduced himself. Cage? That last name sounds familiar. "You know that last name, Davenport?"
"Um, boss, all of them are Davenports. Who are you talking to?" The man behind him whispered to Santiago.
"I know that! Shut up! I'm not stupid!" He yelled at the guy. He looked back and pointed a finger at me. "I'm talking to this Davenport. Because of him, my daughter committed suicide by falling off the bridge by Mission Creek."
"Are you talking about Theresa Cage?" Sean asked Santiago.
"That's my daughter."
Theresa Cage? The girl who was head over heels for Tyler? My cousin brothers looked at me and as they knew what happened, and I remembered what happened to the girl.
"Think about what you've done to my poor little girl," Santiago said.
"Mr. Cage, she did not commit suicide because of me, it was her own actions. I told her many times that I don't like her yet--"
"And because of you refusing to be with her, she was heartbroken and committed suicide and you're held responsible for her death!" Santiago yelled at me and left with his men.
"Luke, what is this Santiago talking about? Who is this Theresa Cage? What is the relationship between the both of you?" Dad asked me.
"Uncle Adam, its 'what was' the relationship between the both of them," Sean said.
"Sean, stop. Luke, answer your dad's question. Who is Theresa Cage and what happened between the two of you?" Uncle Jack asked me.
I was nervous as I was bombarded by all the questions being asked to me. I took a deep breath and decided that it was time to reveal what happened.
"This happened last year. Theresa was a sophomore and I was a junior, and the both of us were in gym class together. She got injured while playing soccer and I helped her by taking her to the nurse's office. From then on, she couldn't stop talking to me, stalking me, and everything above," I started explaining.
"Why didn't you tell her to stop?" Uncle Chase asked me.
"I did, Uncle Chase. I tried so many times but she wouldn't stop. She wouldn't stop liking my pictures on my social media accounts. She even figured out every little things about me like my favorites, family members; she started stalking my brothers and sisters too! I got so annoyed and confronted her, but nothing went into her head. Then, she said that she wanted to go on a date with me, so to make her happy, I said yes. But at that time, I got an text from my coach, saying that we have soccer practice that day and I had to go. I couldn't find the time to tell Theresa that I couldn't make it. Soccer practice was over, and I was about to leave when our school's head girl, Maddy, started flirting in the hallway and she kissed me and had her hands all over my body; very comfortable. And Theresa saw us," I said.
"Oh god," Uncle Jack said.
"Theresa felt like she was being cheated on, even though her and Luke never dated. She couldn't handle feeling being 'betrayed' and she committed suicide that same night by jumping off the bridge," Sean finished.
"So much has happened this past year and you all didn't say anything to us?!" Dad exclaimed.
I've never seen my father get angry before. "Why are you blaming him, Adam? It's not his fault," Uncle Jack said.
"Jack, are you nuts? It is his fault. He wasn't aware of his actions," Uncle Chase said.
"Which is why you're going to pay for it." We heard Santiago's voice booming through the intercom. "For snatching my daughter from me!"
This guy is not going to leave me.
KC Davenport
"Thank you for your help," I said.
All of us women left the police station and went home. We reached my house and all of us walked inside quietly, not saying a word.
"How are we going to find them?" Alicia asked.
"I have no idea," Sophia said. An idea popped in my head. "Why didn't I think of this earlier? I'm seriously becoming the old Adam," I said.
"What's the idea?" Kim asked.
"Back track a bit. Let's go to the place where we bought the cake," I suggested.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go," Bree said.
We all piled in our cars and were on our way to the bakery shop.
Sorry that its taken a while for me to update. I just got a new job and I've been traveling. I'm done traveling for the summer and back to work. I will try to update every week. Again, sorry for keeping you all waiting.
