I could barley walk back to the bar, let alone my apartment, and Yata ended up carrying me on his back.
I didn't want to place myself on him, I didn't want to burden him with my sadness when I knew he was just as sad, but I couldn't pull myself together.
Like a child I clung to Yata and sobbed into his shoulder, he was no doubt shedding his own tears as he made his way back to the bar with the others.
Tonight wasn't like the night Tatara died.
Erik and Dewa were the first to leave. Then Chitose, then Shōhei and Kōsuke, and everyone else just followed.
I sat at the end of the stairs trying to catch my breath as I hiccuped, watching each of them leave without a word.
By morning, the only people left were Kusangi, who had cried himself to sleep on the floor behind the bar counter, Rikio, who had fallen asleep only an hour ago on the couch, Anna, who had fallen asleep after sobbing into my stomach, and Yata, who held me close to him, his head on my shoulder.
He was just as awake as I was, whispering to me that it was okay and I needed to calm down before I started hyperventilating.
How dare they...
"They're gone." I began, swallowing.
"I'm sure they just went home, to be by themselves."
I swallowed, "Then why do I feel like... I won't ever be seeing them again? Why do I feel like it's over?"
Yata didn't answer for a while, but when he did, I knew he felt the exact same.
"Don't leave me too, Yuri."
"I won't. I promise."
