"Misaki-kun!" I called, the boy immediately whipped around at the sound of my voice, catching me in his arms as I lunged for him. He held me tight and I took a deep breath of his scent, sweaty but still a hint of that old cologne Tatara once bought him.
Neither of us let go even for a second, just silently holding each other as the reality set in - it was finally over, and we had succeeded to save our family and our futures, we stood tall as Homra until the very end.
And even now, in victory, even without the red flames - we were still the same warming fire.
"I love you." Yata mumbled, "I'm so glad you're okay."
"Me too, I love you too." I replied, leaning back just to kiss him, ignoring how Saruhiko scoffed in the background.
"Are you losers coming with me to the ER or not?"
"Well, should we?" I asked, still not letting go of him. The boy shrugged, turning to Anna and Kusanagi as they hugged tightly just a few feet away.
"I think... we should stay here. I'll come visit you, Saru." Misaki smiled at the blue, and he nodded respectfully.

Munakata was working hard with Seri to build up their own new company so everyone who had left their lives to serve under the blue king could all still work together, despite there not being a need for the original sceptre 4 anymore, and we did our best to help here and there, any bad past experiences we'd had were pretty much forgotten, with the exception of particular nights where we'd bring things up just for laughs.
I was hard at work, Rei showing interest in learning martial arts as well now, which made me especially happy, so I signed him up for classes with me right away.
Misaki came to pick us up a lot, and then walk us back home. It was sometimes the only time we'd see each other in the day due to our busy schedules. As Misaki was helping Rei tie his shoes and I gathered up my things, I heard Rei call out,
"Thanks dad!"
I quickly turned around to see, Misaki stood frozen and blinked fast. Then he cleared his throat and managed to get out a 'You're welcome', with a bright blush on his cheeks.
I myself felt like blinking back tears too, we'd really come so far after all this time.
I walked up, grabbing the boys hand with a smile that probably wouldn't leave my face for the rest of the day, and Rei lead the way out the door.
